Northern California - This is what fall riding is about.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I got out early on Saturday to take a quick spin and ended up going around Diablo. The early morning sun peeking through the trees on Morgan Territory was fantastic. A chill in the air, a bit of dampness from the day before, there's something going on.
And the leaf's were so golden.
As you climb the hill and spy the forrest of oaks and pine, the fall folliage is starting to burst. It's getting hard to keep on the eyes on the road because of the beauty. That's ok, because nobody's out there.
Down to Manning, over to Highland, though Blackhawk, up Diablo. Summit. It's a great day.
This is what fall riding is about.

I just couldn't use the Treo because the photo's wouldn't have done the day justice.
You'll have to use your imagination.

+1 for Fall riding. I was up in Tahoe and rode from Tahoe Donner over Donner Pass and back. Donner is a pretty easy ride, as passes go. But between the colors and a bit of snow on the sides of the orad it was really nice. And the last weekend for riding up there I suspect!

I had the same experience Sunday, only up Calaveras. Very little traffic, dappled shade, mild temps, fall colors starting.

Fall riding, eh?
Let me see.... Well, Sunday before last, I rode a nice 57 miles with climbs in perfect weather.
Then my wife's car battery died, so I did her carpooling while she waited for AAA.
The next day, it rained.
Then my wife got sick, and I had to do carpooling again.
Then I got sick - that was three days including Saturday and Sunday - and I had wanted to do the Calaveras ride.
Now it's too dark at 7:30 AM, and getting worse every day, and Daylight Savings Time doesn't end until November.
SO, today I broke out the trainer and rode in the garage. That's MY fall riding, unfortunately. I hope it's nice and clear this weekend!
