Happy days! I chased the UPS guy down Main Street to get it. First impressions are that it's typical Yeti. Which is to say, nice beefy welds, good paint and with an overall high quality look. I got it as a frameset; fork and headset included. A very unscientific side by side comparison (placing bottom bracket shells side by side) shows it will have a similar head tube height to my seven road frame which is a 56/56. The Yeti is a medium. I'll be showing more seatpost, as I usually do on my mountain bikes, so it's not exactly a traditional European design. The funky top tube seems to lend itself to being carried via the arm around the head tube; though obviousy I won't know this to be true until I build it. Which leads to my final hurdle: Taking apart my treasured seven and using all the Chorus stuff to build up the Yeti... I'll get a picture sorted when it's complete.

EDIT: Photographs are below.

there was a guy at the seattle cyclocross series race yesterday riding in the cat 2 race on a new yeti - very cool looking bike. i didn't get to watch him take any of the runups, though, so i don't know if he had to adjust his carrying technique any to run with the bike.

I can't believe I procrastinated too long before attempting to order one of those. *slaps forehead* Of course, I'm still happy with the bike I ended up building, but still!

Yeah I'm pretty excited about it. It will be an all campy chorus affair, with FSA cranks, michelin tires and a few other bits and bobs. I have old WTB canti brakes (circa 1993 or so). I'm hoping to be able to use these. Otherwise I'm torn between Paul's retros and just going in the opposite direction and opting for campy' mini-v's.

Very nice. Why did you ditch the Seven?

I'm not ditching it. Just putting it on ice until Spring. It's the axiom-steel road, and I love it dearly but in the interest of cost effectiveness I decided to use it's parts to build up a bike I could ride all winter (the yeti). My plan is to buy new 10sp campy for the Spring rebuild... My girlfriend thinks I'm being frugal by putting used parts on the yeti, but really it's just an excuse to buy shamals and record in March! :D

Ohhhhhh. I thought you were 86ing a custon Seven cx frame for the Yeti (also an awesome cx bike). I'd love me some custom Seven!

Man, I've always had a soft spot for Yeti's ever since I laid eyes on the ARC in 1986. i wonder where Frank The Welder is now?

Anyway. Awesome frame. I saw a guy racing one last weekend. I was set up as a SS. I wanted to swing by and compliment the rider, but figured that he was probably getting lots of that anyway!

So-- you need to post decent photos once you get it built up.

Likewise. I think i saw my first ARC in around 1990, my friend Michael bought it through the shop we worked at. Last I heard of FtW he was working at Sinister. But that was a few years ago.

Can't wait to get it built. I'll be sure to post pictures.

Frank is still at sinister, as far as I know. He was last year anyway.
