Foo - PSA: Grammar nazis

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Unless the plaintiff has proven superlative skill in using the English language, I hereby declare it illegal to make a post bewailing someone else's tawdry exploitation of the same.

tawdry?
Man...I thought that was a description of wenches used by pirates or actually describing the women that pirates liked. But heh...I'm not bewailing or anything like that.

You don't even have a star!
Poor grammar does bug me on occasion, but I know that my own grammar isn't perfect, so I tend to shy away from correcting others. I just know that if I were to do so, I'd make a huge grammatical faux pas in the process. :)

Fixed.. :p
Advice and Advise are not the same word.
The majority of BF posters are unaware of this fact.
Don't you mean: "PSA: Grammar nazi's" ?
It's not appropriate to use an apostrophe for a plural noun. :p
Fixed.. :p
What in the hell is that stray comma doing in the middle of my sentence? :p

I think for the most part I'm pretty good with grammar, but those two words kick my ass every time I want to use (one of) them. :o:(

Rule of thumb (for about 90% of the time you want to use them):
Effect = noun
Affect = verb
Most of the time.

I've tried and tried to get a grasp of that but it seems like every time I need to use one of them, my brain just shuts off.
I'm a mod on another board(actually started the board years ago). I've always tried to use the best grammar I knew how. It drives me crazy trying to read some of the garbage that gets posted. The board owner doesn't give a damn, so I quit caring.
