Hi,
Would like a kevlar if possible (or lighter wire bead), all black, either 30 or 32c tire for our tandem. Would like to replace the 495g 28c Vittoria Randonneur 700-28c wire beaded Touring Tires that came on my entry level tandem.
BTW, we're a 395lb team and have some heavily traveled and worn roads in these parts.
Thanks

Perhaps Avocet's Carbon 12 line: (fasgrip K, Duro or Duroplus)
http://www.avocet.com/tirepages/carbon12_specs.html
might want to see what Peter White has to say about them, too --

Avocet went through a period of changing the labeled width on their tires to better match the physical tire sizes ... as I understand, the tire sizes as now-labeled are much closer to reality than they once were.
[ interested in using them, but haven't purchased yet ]
Well everyone knows I am picky - I have over 10,000 miles on a set of Schwabe Marathon Pluses without a flat including a cross country trip this year. Time to replace them - but in addition I have them on both tandems without a flat with a combined 6,000 miles. Prior to this I was a conti guy, but now very much a convert. I will admit depending on the rim they can be a little tricky to put on the first time.

INDY-bobWirebead Conti Gatorskins are only 320grams. 350lb weight and were bulletproof for 2200 miles that I used them. Now GP-4000 in 25c. Nicer roads in SoCal.:D

Speaking only for myself, I try to offer suggestions where I have some first hand knowledge of the subject matter. I know zippitydodah about 700c tires larger than 28mm and even then, my knowledge regarding 28mm is pretty limited and based primarily on second-hand information from those who use them or what I've observed while fixing one.
I believe there are a larger number of others who only use 700x28 or, like us, mostly 700x25 and 700x23 and had that been the area of your interest you would have received far more suggestions.

we had good luck with the schwalbe marathon racers. they have a reflective sidewall stripe but are otherwise all black. we have a 30 on the front and a 35 on the back. they used to make a 32 i believe but don't see it on their website. the 30 is about the same size or just a little bigger than the michelin pro race 25. the michelin is the same size as the two sets of 28s that we have, continentals and avocets.
