Specifically clipless. I had a nice fall last week thanks to some rain and the white paint used on crosswalks. Anyway, I bent one of my pedals in the fall. I bent it back for now, but I'm going to order some new pedals. My current ones were out of a junk/parts bin anyway. I'm debating between going clipless or getting some sylvans or gr-9's.

If I go clipless I have to be able to walk in the shoes somewhat comfortably. Also, the shoes have to look somewhat like shoes, not like rocket ships. I like the Adidas Gran Corsico's (especially in white) but no one seems to have them in a 10.5 or 11.

The Specialized BG Sonoma's look nice too. http://www.ajssportinggoods.com/lifesports/assets/product_images/winter2008/specializedw08/shoes08/msonoma.jpg

Any suggestions. As always the cheaper the better.

I have PI Vagabond mtb shoes. They're fine (comfortable and inexpensive) but they look a little too much like soccer cleats and probably don't fit what you're looking for.

Those Sonomas look nice. They could actually pass for normal shoes.

They could actually pass for normal shoes.

That's what I want. I just like the white adidas more.

Sperry Top-Siders

pretty comfy, but was slightly uncomfortable at first with the straps on top. i don't really skid/skip much though because i've been using my front brake more now. also, it's pretty narrow and not very tall, slips into clips easily.

I ride in the old original lace up version of those Specialized shoes you posted.
Picked them up for 20 bucks new and they have lasted almost 2.5 years and I can walk in them and wear them for hours.

i just got these last week.

i haven't tried them with pedals just yet (hopefully putting those on my bike tomorrow) but they feel quite nice.

i have actually worn them around a couple times as an everyday shoe to break them in some and haven't experienced any discomfort. i think that's probably a good sign.

fwiw, i have a wide(ish) forefoot and narrow(ish) heel. the best fitting shoes i have ever had are brooks adrenaline running shoes in size 12.5 EE.

i got size 46 in the specialized taho and my feet are happy.

I just got a pair of Specialized Comps as a late birthday/early Hanukkah present and they're great. It's nice to not be sliding all over the place whenever you get off your bike, and they'll be even nicer when I do my first cyclocross race in two weeks.

Performance has a pair of shoes that look like old school Reeboks or Nikes. I think they're like 40 bucks.

Check nashbar or performance for their Cannondale/Diadora XCE3000 or XCP 2000 MTB shoes. There's only afew sizes left but they might have one that fits you. They're on sale for $80-90 too.

Cannondale Roams. They can pass for street shoes, and I don't have a horse clap walk. I paid $50 for them at REI.

I used to have a pair of Cannondale shoes that looked almost exactly like a pair of Vans. I can't remember the name, but I actually worked in them. They were my regular day-to-day shoes. Fairly comfy. No luck with googling them.

However, these look decent:

Lake has a whole line of shoes that are more or less reasonable looking as street/sneaker type shoes. I ride MX 101s that look more or less like those Specializeds except with laces.

I have experienced though that the walkable/touring type shoes tend to be made of real or untreated leather and stretch a lot, which you really don't want in a cycling shoe, so if you ride more than you walk around, you might be better off with a dedicated cycling shoe even they're sort of moon boots.

I've also found that Lakes and Specializeds fit very similarly, a bit roomier in the toe box while still being generally snug, whereas European shoes were tight in the same spot even when they were too big - a 46 in the Lakes or Specializeds are as close to perfect as I've had fit, but a 47 or even 48 crushed the sides of my feet with Diadoras and Shimanos, on top of being too long.

the lake mx60 or mx90s look pretty normal, are reasonable, and come in wide. If I go clipless, that's what I'm getting. Oops, looks like ieatrats covered it. Also, sixsixone has spd compatible skate-ish shoes.

I've got Sidi Zetas but I'm firing them because I keep destroying Crank Bros road cleats on them (two sets of cleats in three months, wtf).

I've previously had a good experience with Specialized's shoes, then I ripped a strap off and that was that.

I should be receiving some Diadora wimmins MTB shoes soon in the mail. We'll see how that goes.

I'm really leery about bike shoes with laces. I got a cinch from a pair of BDUs stuck in my chainring once and that SUCKED.

I'm going to order the Specialized's soon. Now I just need to figure out what pedals to get. Any suggestions on that? What type has the smallest cleats? I'd like to spend around 50 on the pedals.

Or maybe this, seems like a great price. http://www.blueskycycling.com/product3534_27_-Adidas-El-Moro-Shoes-w--Crank-Brothers-Candy-C-Pedals.htm

Those pedals are basically always 50 bucks, so keep that in mind when you're figuring the value.

Let me be the first to say that Time ATACs are the best mountain bike pedals and they are great for urban, mtb, and in my experience road riding. I have a pair on every one of my bikes and have ridden them for years with nary a problem.

Sambas with double straps work excellent, though I wouldn't want to take some expensive Toshis through a full winter, and for the price you could easily get a clipless setup too.

I just got some Time ATACs, gonna get Sidi Dom 5 Megas to match :) Can't wait to try out a good clipless system on fixed.

After growing a thorough dislike for lace-up clipless shoes, I rode shimano MA-80's for 1.5 years. They are garbage right now.

I am probably going to pony up for some Sidi Dominators + Times from Pricepoint. Hopefully that will last me until the Mayan apocalypse, at least.

I wear a regular size ten and some shoes feel a little narrow to me, but the Shimano's feel perfect.

I walk around in them and forget I have bicycle shoes.

I have these shoes and they rock. I can seriously walk around in them for a while and they don't attract attention like other cycling shoes.
