Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I am a relatively new rider. My daughter in law has a Trek Calypso. There are two fittings as shown in the picture. I would like to know what they are.
Also for a bike without fittings for a water bottle what suggestions for mounting a bottle.
Thanks for help

If I am looking at your picture right, that is a braze-on for a rear rack.
It also looks like you have braze-ons for a water bottle cage on the seat tube of that bike.

I will check the back fittings tonight.
Unfortunately, the picture is a man's style. There are no bottle fittings on the woman's style.
Thanks for the help.

There are a number of ways to attach a water bottle to a bike without braze-ons. There are brackets that fit behind the saddle, various kinds of straps, bands and "temporary braze-ons", brackets that attach to the handlebars and even cages that attach with velcro straps.
Check out this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22088&highlight=water+bottle+braze) for a pretty good discussion of the topic.

You can also get a Two-Fish Water bottle cage. It's a double U-shaped piece of rubber that holds a bottle cage and wraps around a section of tubing. It works pretty well. It's great for putting a water bottle wherever you might need one. I bought it for my wife's bike. We were doing a 12-hour race and the baton was a water bottle that you had to carry on the bike. Well, my wife's bike ONLY had a single bottle cage and she needed that for her water.
I'll try to find a link with a pic.

I think you will need to use a bracket type adapter. The reason there are no mounts for a water bottle on the women's frame is that there probably is just not enough real estate there to fit a bottle. Otherwise, I like the rivnut idea best.

It looks as if it has mounts for a waterbottle already.
