Just thought I'd share a pic of this beauty! Too bad it has 10sp DA instead of Record though.... :)

I bet you can get it with Record, if you really want it that way and can sell some organs.
Is it just me, or is the 2004 Dura Ace just plain ugly?

It's not just you. I think the 2004 D-A is ugly too... well at least and especially the crank. It looks like they took styling cues from the one-piece cranks you'd find on bikes at Wal-Mart.

:roflmao:
Shimano really blew it with the new Dura Ace design. Record or Dura Ace?? easy answer if you ask me.

The new 10spd Shimano cranks do look like crap...and while I love litespeeds, I'm honestly not that impressed with this one. It looks too "blade-ish"...really lacks the power and elegance that the 2003 frame had.
As far as looks go, I think I still prefer the shape and look of the 2003 Ultimate. The 2004 model may be more aerodynamic but I guess all that fairing will take some time to grow on me.

100% agreed! One of the stylistic considerations for me in buying a Ti Litespeed (Arenberg) were the slick, relatively thin, tubes and the 'classic' frame design. This 'new' Vortex is way too oversized for my taste.
Also agree with those who do not like the Dura-Ace 2004 cranks/chainrings. With a competitor like this, Campy will easily take a bigger share of the high-end gruppo market.

i have a theory that the shimano industrial designer is really an agent for campagnolo. that crank is going to sell a whole lot of record...

As far as whole groups go, you're probably right although in terms of just cranks, I have a feeling it'll sell more FSA than Campy actually.

It would look magnificent next to my 2001 (Ultegra equipped) Litespeed Tuscany.

Nice bike... but if I'm going to be really picky (just because I can't afford one ;)) those curvy seat stays are not really my cup of tea.
Cheers,

Yeah, FSA has to love Shimano for selling a whole lot of their cranks for them. Who on earth wants to spend $250 to look like a flying saucer attacked the side of their bike?

You know, that kinda looks like something that cannondale would put out.
I agree with the ugly crank business. I think that shimano should just take the record crank, make it splined and leave it at that.
