FIRST OF ALL, THIS IS NOT A KNOCKING thread. Encouragement and positive laughter only.(I did get Siu's permission for this by the way)

Siu gained a bit of weight. Last time I checked she was 150ish. Now is 170s.

I'm trying to get her to be a tad bit more healthy, to which she replies something to the affect of "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die"(anyone who knwos the bible should know this line). She goes, tomorrow. Or whatever. Start out by eating only whole grain pasta, portion control, more chicken and fish(these things I am now doing cuz I want to be at 165, a racing weight).

Either way, I think she'll be absolutely beautiful, even if she gained another 100 pounds.

Problem is, if she gains anymore weight, she won't be able to squeeze into my car anymore!!! Then how are we gunna go bike shoppin' SOMEONE TELL ME!! WAHHH.

Plus, I bought her one of these doohickies for christmas, for when we go cycling. If she get's any bigger, it simply won't fit.

So, you bought Sui a woman? Is that legal?

efrobert

The answer is simple.
Puking! Women have been using this technique for generations. You might have to deal with some Breath issues with her, but at least she'll fit in the car... You'll just have to roll the windows down.

I've seen pics of Siu. She's a pretty lady, and I find it hard to believe that. That said, Siu, if you start eating healthy, you'll feel better, just all around be happier. It's not really my place to speak about this, though.

Dude..seriously.. Never mention a woman's weight.. Besides..I think she looked fine..from the last pic I saw when another BFer was visiting y'all in the City...

Anyway...unless Siu is having problems riding and is constantly out of breath..and other problems associated with weight problems..don't think she needs to change anything. Get her to go out riding some more to burn off those extra calories that you think she's intaking..at least that way it's a fun thing.. I like food and have always had a problem with portion control (like eat an entire Sara Lee Pound Cake..the 16oz POUND size for breakfast while at work)..but I do other stuff (and no I'm not bulimic) to burn off those excess calories... I get the best of both worlds that way.. :)

And Siu honey..when are you gonna go riding with jon? I wanna come too.. :)

Siu, don't listen to Jon. ;)

Do what you want. I have a feeling a great majority of the folks around here will be behind you in whichever path you choose. Of course, I'm sure more people would be cheering you on in an "I'm going to start eating healthier!" thread than in a "I'm not eating anything that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient!" thread. :p I'm sure most would encourage you to go down the former path rather than the latter, but hey, it's a free-ish country.

Whoa. Thanks for caring everyone. But....

First of all, I AM eating healthy.

I don't drink any soda - I have my coffee in the morning, and water and juice during the day. With my meals I have Rice Dream.

For meals I have cereal in the morning, and lunch I either do soup or salad with some crackers. Dinner I eat a regular meal but about half of what I use to eat. And dinner is always home made from scratch, none of this processed crap.

For a snack I usually do a pear or some other quick fruit.

I try to ride at least three times a week. I work out at nites, doing my usual lifting of the dumbells along with my kicks and katas.

Granted every once in a while I cheat...I had guacamole last nite.

but.........

and here it is, folks...........

You won't believe this..........

NO ICE CREAM FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

[snip]See, that sounds about right. I couldn't really see you eating that unhealthily, but I took the thread at face value. What you said is really more in line with what I would have guessed.

Oh, and I'm glad you cheat once in a while. Moderation in all things, including ice cream!

The stupid scale said I was 174.8

But then I weighed myself on another one.... Put it this way. I need to lose 15 lbs to get to my ideal weight, according to the doctor. ;)

Krink

My doctor doesn't tell me to lose weight. Then again, he hates me.

But, if I don't lose thirty pounds in the next year by god I will wear the Michelan man's wife's lingerie AND pose for the Ladies of Foo thread.

I think I'll start by giving up guacamole.

Falkon
10-16-07, 06:53 PM
You can do it! First if you don't mind me asking, do you have a metabolic condition? Hypothyroidism and the like? No matter what people say, genetics plays a role, and for some people it's just so much harder to lose the weight. Damn American endomorph genes. I carried around a bit of extra weight for a few years. You wouldn't know it by the weight on the scale, but I'm a showty with a medium build. You could see it on my face and body, though. At the time I was also working as a cook, so it would be nothing for me to just grab a nice big piece of cheesecake out of the cooler. I was also on what I call the American Fastrack diet. You know the one where you go "Oh ****, I only have 15 minutes, gotta run to burger king." When I finally decided to lose it and get healthy, I got serious. Only lean meats like chicken breast, plenty of vegetables, no candy, low fat diet. I didn't go on the low carb diet, just low fat, watched what types of fat. Whole wheat bread and pasta only. Oh an exercise at the gym at least three times a week. Within a couple of months I dropped about 25 lbs and I've been able to keep it off with eating right and cycling.

You seem to be doing the right thing, so I have no doubt that you will succeed!

People have mentioned ice cream and guac as their Waterloos, so I'll share mine:

cereal and bread.

You know those bargain, generic cereals that come in just the bag? I ate an entire bag of the frosted flake variety in one day--it actually pained me to walk for a while. :o

And I can eat almost a whole wheat loaf of bread in one sitting.

Luckily, I've become lactose intolerant, so the cereal's out (unless I start buying soy milk;)), and I can just not buy bread.

Oh, and +1 for Siu not needing to change.
