We were invited to ride with about 10 other tandem teams last Memorial day weekend. When we we're pulling in at the end of the first day's ride I noticed that probably half of them had vanity plates on their vehicles that had some sort of reference to tandem riding or cycling in general.
We've jumped into the tandem boat with both feet in the last couple of years and thought we'd show our commitment as well. I ordered our vanity tag a couple of weeks ago and it just arrived.
Our says 2CTER.

As a one-time L.E.O., I always appreciated vanity plates because witnesses tended to remember catchy tags with far more clarity than a randomly generated series of numbers.
Actually, I'm even worse than that. In fact, I'm ashamed to admit I haven't even bought one of Georgia "Share the Road" tags because it adopted South Carolina's stylized version of the ubiquitous "beware of road hazard" cyclist profile used on caution signs around the US that I abhor. But that's a subject for a different forum.

Seriously, I do get a kick out of the vanity plates and Lord knows, they ARE very popular with tandem teams, e.g., Bike42 is very common. 2CTER was very creative and will certainly keep motorists quessing.
Hopefully everyone will look past my curmudgeonly reply and offer us a glimpse of their creativity. Again, there are a lot of really interesting variations on the cycling theme out there. I tend to enjoy the more obscure ones like yours that have meaning to folks with like interests.
Hey there TandemGeek, for some of us dense tandemers can you explain your vanity plates? Are the numbers tubing grades or have to do with other specs? I am sure they are creative but I have not figured them out yet.

MT = Motorcycle, which is also a two-wheeled / two-seater cycle of sorts
WF = Wildflower, which is what we see a lot of whilst riding here in Georgia
BW = Bobwhite Quail, which is a pretty tasty bird but not often seen as it's been over-hunted.
The other letters and numbers are just randomly selected by the DMV to keep out of state folks guessing.
Examples of the WF, BW, as well as Georgia's 'Share the Road' plate below as well as the South Carolina PCC plate it's modeled after. None of these plates can be personalized.

LEO is a Low Earth Orbit satelite in my jargon, sorry I sometimes need to scratch my head with the abreviations, I got it after a few reads, took me just as long to figure out 2CTER, its a good one.. No vanity plates here.

Florida's "Share the Road" plate can be personalized, for an annual fee of course. Sure, we soak the tourists with hotel & resort taxes, tolls and the like, but we rarely miss a chance to also tax ourselves on certain indulgences.
They redesigned the Share the Road tag for 2007. I work with a design team that could have done a lot better but it's not as bad as the previous plate.

Yup, a few years ago at the Midwest tandem Rally we had cars with BIKE-42 license plates from at least 3 states. Still have BIKE-42 on my wife's car. I got BYKE4-2 this summer for my new Element.

Do not have vanity plates; however letters on our plates are DBA . . . which we interpreted as 'Double Butted *****es'
Do have a license plate frame (no gov't surcharge!):

and before that had one that read:
