I assume Minewt X2 dual, but does it have Red led indicators (the lights on the top of the lamps) all the time? Mine are blue, don't remember ever them being red(?).

What are your side lights, I like them. Wonder if they come in amber?

edit....I guess you are running low on battery power, I just realized the red LED side-light up top was from the battery, I didn't remember my headlamps doing it too, but have only run them down twice.

Yep - they were low on power. I was just testing them out prior to the inaugural charge.

Argh, it bothers me. I think I want to get Nokons for this very reason. What do you think ViperZ? Don't you have them?

Min- can you give some impressions of the lights? I just ordered a Minewt X2 Dual setup myself and am interested in how quickly you'd feel comfortable riding on an otherwise unlit MUP, how wide a beam does it throw, etc?

One of the main reasons I chose the Minewt was the dual heads. I like that I can adjust the throw of the light or stack for more intensity. Due to the O-ring mounting system, you can adjust on the fly. Light is fairly bright - I'd say it looks brighter (viewed head-on) than it actually is.

It looks brighter than a car's headlights (again, head-on) because it throws so much glare. Auto lights have a light cutoff shield and these don't - hence the glare and the perception of greater intensity.

I think the lights will be sufficient when very dark outside - such as the unlit MUP example you listed. When riding through areas of alternating light & dark such as a city scape, I find them deficient. They just are not bright enough to cut through environment lights. Once your eyes adjust to the dark and there are no other lights around, I think they should be fine.

Compared to my 2xAA LED light (ViewPoint Flare-5), no contest! The Flare5 doesn't even look like it's on when compared side by side.

I rode to work this morning with them on strobe mode and people literally turned heads. It really gets the traffics' attention since it looks like a cop strobe.

Thanks! The little light is a Knog Frog. I put it on my backpack this morning for my commute. It's easy to mount anywhere.

I have the Nokons on my Trek 5000. I went with them just so I could tuck the cables away, under the bar on it's Dura Ace system.

They are a bit of a chore to set-up, however I do like them for that very reason, and would recommend doing it just for that reason if Shimano cables bother you (which they do me).

I have a DiNotte 200L on a bike with brifters, and I get glare off my cables, too. Another bike has barcons---no cables in the way. This is another reason I like barcons better. :-)

FWIW -- I used Campy brifters on my Surly LHT. No exposed cables. Used a Jtek Shiftmate to convert the cable pull for a Shimano XT Rear Der. Great combo. Nothing in the way of my handlebar bag. The older Campy brifters can go up or down a whole cassette with one pull.

+1 - not to mention I find the Princeton Tech Switchback 2 to almost be perfect for completely black twisting MUP riding at around 16-18 mph, and as you pointed out the Minewt X2 produces quite a bit more light.

a MiNewt switches from blue to red when it is in low battery mode...head light goes red/white and the battery blue light also goes to red
