After driving way too much all summer I was able to start commuting to work again today. whoo hoo! I’ve been spending an hour each morning in the car dropping the wife and kids off at their destinations. Driving home at lunch to let the dog out and eat. Then doing it all again after work.
today i rode the 9.3 mi to work and it was great. I've scouted some route improvements during the weekends that get me off the major roads and a big intersection. what a difference that makes. Its actually over a mile or so further but it didn't take any longer. Win, Win.
I'm going to hit the road in about an hour in the heat but I can wait. I feel like a kid again waiting for the bell to ring in school.

I thought I’d share this with some folks who would understand.

also, my new boss recognized me this morning while i was crossing I35. She thinks it's kind of crazy but cool.

Glad to be commuting again and glad to find the forum.
Cheers,
Creep dog:beer:

So when are you going to persuade her to join the bike commuting club? :)

HA! she drives a Ford super duty crew cab pickup about 50 miles each way to work everyday. i give here a break about it since she keeps horses and does use the pickup for that.

I had a great ride in this morning in the dark. i had to be at my desk by 07:00 for a call to China. It was different than MTN biking at night. i was mostly concerned with seeing any debris in the road.

congrats creep dog, welcome back aboard the commuting wagon, stick to it, it'll pay off, maybe even with the boss.

[COLRO-green]Welcome back it's great to hear that your boss is like all the others out there. What's really cool is how my clients react when they see me pull up on the fixed gear, and give me grief about the shorts and colors. I didn't know a man had to be secure in his sexuality to be able to wear spandex or pink. I don't wear pink biking, althought it would be cool if I won the Giro, it is my dress shirts that I wear at work that I get razzed about.[/COLOR]

I don't wear pink biking, although it would be cool if I won the Giro
HA! just get a set of the pink ONCE team gear and your all set.
i have to admit that i use another entrance to the building than most of the people i work with use. i just don’t need the bike shorts comments.

i have a neighbor that commutes a lot of the time on a fixed gear. he has a tough, hilly commute of 16 mi each way. he is a maniac. i have to admit i want to try out fixed gear riding.

My first week of commuting again has been great. I’ve commuted 4 out of the 5 days. Now it’s MTN biking this weekend!
