Hi guys, i was gone last week, went to camp for a week.

So the brake problem with my bianchi is still there, i can't fit the rear brake on because the brake bridge is too "thick." Basically the bolt coming out doesn't reach far enough for me to secure it with a ?drop? bolt.

I already bought a 3cm long ?drop? bolt and tried to convert my back brake to my front and use my front as my back. That wouldn't work, but the front does indeed fit perfectly in the back.

So here are my options. I can buy the longer bolt from campagnolo, for 30! dollars, and have my rear brake rebuilt with that bolt. Or i can buy a single front caliper from my LBS for 60 bucks. OR i can buy a set of two campy veloce brakes for 65 from repartocorse.com, or 70 with shipping.

I've been thinking about this awhile. I put up a listing on craigslist.org for a single front caliper, but nobody's responded. I'm leaning towards buying a set from repartocorse, then having a pair of rear brakes as extras.

What model caliper do you have and what model Bianchi is it?

Your calipers, do they have a built in threaded bolt coming of the back?

You might be able to find a seatpost binder bolt nut that will reach.

I'm guessing from what you describe, you need an extra long recessed nut. Standard is 10mm and this one is 22mm. Try your LBS if you need it quick.

Good Luck

How THICK can a rear brake bridge be?????.....especially when you mentioned the front caliper fits perfectly in the rear???? If that's the case, are you telling me that the rear brake bridge is just as thick as your fork crown????? What kind of a Bianchi frame is this????? So how long is the caliper bolt you're having trouble with??? Errrrr...!!

Last week I also suggested you get an extra long recessed nut, remember?

Right, i got the extra long recessed nut. It SHOULD be long enough, but for some reason it hits a certain part of my fork and won't go anymore. So that means i can't use the rear brake in the front.

Yes, what i need is a longer threaded bolt coming out of the brake. That's what's costing me 30 bucks.

BTW, for anyone that doesn't know, the frame is from the 80s, the brakes are 2003 campy veloce.

Does anyone think i should just buy a new set of brakes for 65bucks? It's not much more expensive than buying a single caliper.

PS i wasted 7 dollars on the nut. D'oh.

What about using the rear caliper in the back and the 3cm nut rather then trying to use the rear in the front with the 3cm nut. What is the actual measurement of the back brake bridge?

If you have to do it I would go with a complete brake set.. figure you have 3 extra sets of pads then :) , you could also browse e-bay for the brakes.. might find a good deal.

Also, i know this is blasphemy on an all campy bike, but no one will notice if i use a shimano 105 front brake out back right? I, myself, won't really mind, and it may be much cheaper than buying a set of veloces.
