Introductions - Greetings from LA... Dust-trail headed for Australia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey everybody! Just wanted to toot a quick hello to the community-at-large out here. I'm gearing up (more mentally than product-wise) for a tour across Australia next spring -- er, their fall, I guess -- and starting to troll for potential ride-partners, crusty old mentors who've done some riding there before and might have things to recommend, etc.

I've posted a sort of want-ad in the Touring section, so I won't repeat myself too much here, but if anybody's got any wit or wisdom to send my way, I'm all ears! (I rode the US southern tier last year, so I've got the gist of touring, but I imagine a concerted attack by marsupials, etc., could still cause me some serious trouble.)

If you head this way (Tassie).. watch out for the Tassie Devils, people go missing...

Wow, I had no idea Tasmanian Devils were really a threat. I thought they were kind of like Komodo Dragons: a scary name, but no real bite...

Mate they are known to eat animals three times their size.. and the odd human. They hunt in packs like wolves except they are deadly quiet until they pounce on you.. no wonder they are called devils...
