I have Rosacea. It means that my nose can end up looking like WC Fields, and also that my cheeks tend to get red and recently I've developed a little rosacea related acne.
I checked on rosacea.org (http://www.rosacea.org/index.php) and found a list of the most frequent rosacea triggers. Here were the top most frequent triggers and the percent of rosacea sufferers that it affected.
Sun exposure - 81%
Emotional stress - 79%
Hot weather - 75%
Wind - 57%
Heavy exercise - 56%
With one exception they all seem to point to one activity. I've never had the acne before and in fact it showed up with my training for the century.
The usual redness responded to consistent use of 50 spf sunblock, but with the acne, it seems like sunblock is a double-edged sword as it blocks the pores while it blocks the sun. I may try mixing it with neosporin.
Does anyone else face this problem? What answers work for you?

I'm with you on this one. I've had Rosacea several years and almost evertyhing that I like to do makes it worse. Sun is the worst and I always apply SPF50 to my face and cheeks. I don't have it on my nose for some reason and haven't had any acne since high school. High elevation is another contributing factor but not too much a problem in the east.
My dermatologist gave me a prescription for a cream called Noritate that seems to help a lot.
Maybe we can FACE this problem together!!

I have Rosacea too. Sun block works well for me, but it won't prevent a flare-up due to physical exertion, which I have to live with. A cool compress might do some good, but I can't say I've ever done more than sun block and trying to go down hill as much as possible.

My doctor suggested using sunblock made for faces. This along with my prescription cream keeps mine under control.

I use the rx cream(its an antibiotic) and that controls the zits as well...The sunblock may not be the cause of the zits..

I've had some adult acne the past few years with the worst breakout on my forehead several months ago. I had a conspicuous patch on my forehead that just would not go away. Finally bought a tube of Neutrogena's On-the-Spot acne cream. It comes in a small tube maybe 3" long at most in a small box and doesn't cost a lot. I dabbed it on the area every night before bed and within a week or so I noticed a difference, and after 3-4 weeks it was completely gone. Now, at the first sign of the tiniest pimple I dab some on, and it's gone.
I don't believe I have rosacea but I have a few broken veins on each cheek and prone to a little redness at times. I've seen typical cases of rosacea and my face looks nothing like them so I wonder... are there very mild cases of it, or is my redness associated with something else. My dermatologist (whom I see for skin cancer checks) has never mentioned anything, so I guess not.
Don't the dermatologists use some kind of a laser on it?
My wife had mild rosacea on her nose and cheeks a few years back. Antibiotics cleared it up, but the dermatologist put it down to too much a caffeine from all the English tea she drank, plus the possibility of alcohol as a contributing factor. She changed to de-caff tea, but kept up her modest wine intake and has not had a serious outbreak since. She does ensure that the makeup she uses also contains SPF30 sun protection.

What does your prescription cream do?
The Noritate cream that I use seems to control the "rosy" appearance of my cheeks but does not "cure" the problem. I have to keep applying it every day, when I can remember it.

What does your prescription cream do?
I only use it when I have an outbreak and it seems to lessen the redness. I usually have very mild outbreaks.
I use a precription cream called Clenia. It hides the redness and clears up the zits when they appear.
