Anyone have any good suggestions for a good mtb trail? Taking my friend for the first time this weekend, and wanted something that was beginner friendly yet not boring.

The only trails I regularly hit up are the JPL/Arroyo one and Chantry - he lives in Covina and I'm picking him up, so anything along the foothills is preferred.

And if you can please post directions or link with the suggestion and any other pertinent information (distance/type of trail i.e. loop, out and back, etc./elevation/etc.) that would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Bonelli Park in San Dimas. You could probably find the routes on Geo Ladders, it's pretty tame, mostly fire road with a taste of single track.

Bonelli is 7-8 mile loops, with extra climbing on the back end if you want. $8 to park or you can ride in.

Bonelii isn't always park to pay. I believe only during the summer and spring. WHen the cooler weather comes, they closee the booths. I ride there in the mornings and have parked for free many times.

ALso there is a Park N Ride at Via Verde and the 210 FWY. Usually can find a spot or two there in the afternnon. I't only a ride over the fwy to the park.:D

You can also hit up Claremnt Wilderness, made popular by Beanz. Marshall Cyn. is accessible from La Verne. It is mostly singletrack up to Claremont Wilderness but I don't think it is extremely tough. I am a terrible mountain biker and I've only fallen a few times there. I guess you just have to know your limitations and not be afraid to use the brakes.
