Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

RIDE CANCELLED
jschen is too busy to work out the details, so in an act of drive-by-fooing, I will do it for him :p
- The route: Same as last year
- Place: Same place as last year
- Meet time: TBD, probably the same as last year
- Date: 2 days after being stuffed, the caloric guilt should be in full effect.
Reply here if you're interested. There might be pie. Who knows? Check jschen's jersey pockets before you go if you're counting on some. If I was going, there would be beer involved. In SoCal, I would imagine it would be Stone. That's some good stuff.
HAVE FUN, KIDS!! :D
[jschen's additions below]
Route: Apple Pie Ride, no extensions. 98 miles, 9500 feet of climbing.
[more info to come]

Thanks dude. I'll fill in details a bit later. For now, just clear your schedule, people!

Designed in America, made in china, then sold back to Americans.
Woo Hoo! I might actually have a chance to wear my long sleeve black SoCal jersey and the winter vest!!!

I think it was the Burrito Century.I remember posing with a couple others with our jersies on in front of the Julian Pie Co truck. :D
We (The Fixer, jschen, Extort) definitely posed with our SoCal BF jerseys at the Pie ride last year. :)

Innocent ones in the prime of their lives. One day, they will revolt. Until then, we have pie.
Here is a good recipe:

Is there going to be a "Pie Lite" option?
No. From the intended starting point, Pie Lite is really no easier than riding the Pie ride and bailing on the final climb up Lake Wohlford. Yes, there will be SAG support. Details TBD.

OK OK! I'll get on that.... :D
I'll make an assessment (by car) after the fires burn out. Seeing as virtually all of the route is being affected by the fires right now, we may not be doing this ride in a month's time. We'll see.

We'll just need a new route in that case. There's plenty of food out there to organize a ride around!
I'm cancelling this ride. I hope we do a ride that weekend, but it won't be this route. Or at least I won't lead a ride through this route. Virtually all of the route is affected by the current fires.

We can do an OC ride, if you want. I'm happy to "organize" it.

Um...we'll drop you off at IHOP after the ride and you can go at it.:p
mateo, looks like Thanksgiving Saturday's century ride is your responsibility now! :p

I'd still like to ride up there at some point, assuming roads are open. In addition to never having been up there, I'd be interested in seeing the impact of the fire.
That's cool, and I'd be happy to ride with you if you don't mind waiting. But I'm not interested in leading this ride for Thanksgiving Saturday. If you want to do it then, I'm happy to give you a route slip, though.

I wasn't pushing an agenda... just throwing it out there, for whenever the next time there's a ride up there. :)

We definitely need to get a big Palomar ride going sometime though. Stupid fires

+1 I know the area well, but I want to get out there a see what's left. :(

I've done this ride five times in under two years, and there definitely will be a next time.

Mt Baldy Century could be a good replacement candidate, if you want to keep close to the 10k of climbing. I'd offer to set it up, but I'll be doing Tour de Tucson the weekend prior, and I'm running thin on Hall Passes.
Yes, Baldy Challenge would make a nice substitute ride. Up to you, mateo... I'm happy with whatever.

I think the Baldy Century is an excellent alternative, OC. Great suggestion.
Anyone have a route slip?
I'm sure we can find one from either last Oct's Baldy Challenge ride or from voltman's Baldy Challenge ride in Jan.
