Who has the best prices on build kits with everything included wheels, headset, group set etc? I checked colorado cyclist any other ideas?

BTW... I'm looking to build up a surly cross check or something similar as an all around bike for commuting group rides, and the occasional century.

I'm not sure who has the best prices on build kits. Do you have your mind set on a certain level of components? Why not buy the Cross Check Complete? It seems to have some decent specs for a commuter and you could upgrade parts as you go.

Oddly enough www.probikekit.com out of the UK has some very good
prices, though oriented more toward racing than commuting. They
emphasize groups. I got a (small) order in about 10d from them
recently. Not sure how they would ship a group and wheels may be
a problem so shipping time may vary from my experience.
I say oddly because US pricing is generally the envy of euro cyclists.

Lickton's in Chicago doesn't list complete build kits on their web site but says; "let us quote on your complete bike kit."

In my experience their prices are quite competative and noticably lower on some components then most other dealers. Give them a call or e-mail (www.lickbike.com) and see what they offer.

Yes, I want ultegra or rival level components. If I was only to use this for a commuter I'd go with the complete cross check however I want nicer components for my training rides and centuries.

Jenson usually has good prices on kits and often deals on Surly.

OK, cool. I think some of the other posts have steered you in the right direction. They helped me also since I will be building up a frame in the coming months. If you go with the Rival, please update us on how you like it. I'm looking at that group as well.

Good Luck.

GVH also has good prices, but not on Shimano unless you also buy a frame. You'ld be better off with Veloce anyhow ;)

I've heard Veloce would make a nice commuter bike, as it tolerates wet weather (better). No idea how accurate that is, but if I was starting from scratch I'd investigate it as a group for a commuter/all rounder bike.

+1 Best prices I found for Campy groups are probikekit and lickbike. Lickbike has also good prices on 2006/2007 wheels. Service is excellent in both places.

Without a doubt, buy the bike complete from Surly. They are less than a $1000. You can't even buy Veloce or 105 build kits for what the entire bike costs from Surly. Good luck
