hey, im a mountain biker getting in to a little bmx. i picked up a 24" redline off a friend and its so much fun to have a tiny bike underneath me. im running a v-brake in the rear and want to put some kind of brake up front.

my question is, why do bmx forks only run 990 bosses? are there any 24" forks with v-brake bosses (1-1/8" steerer)?

i just read in another thread about a conversion to run 990's but i would much prefer v brake bosses.

Your biggest hurdle is the fact that many bmx riders don't use front brakes. 24" BMX bikes are primarily race bikes, where front brakes are pretty much unheard of now. So finding a 24" BMX fork w/ any mounts will be hard. If you find a 24" fork w/ a hole for a caliper, you might be able to track down a conversion plate for V-Brakes.
What I would do, is this. S&M bikes has been known to do slight custom tweaks on their Frames. And their forks have an excellent reputation. I'd find my local S&M dealer, and see if they can get a 24" Pitchfork w/ v-brake mounts custom made. It'll probably cost a bit extra. If you don't have a local S&M dealer, get a hold of one of the better BMX mail-orders. I recommend Empire BMX ( empirebmx.com ). I've gotten a S&M w/ a custom paint-job through them before.

Well..... I race a cruiser,(24") and no they are not mostly race bikes. There's alot of 24" jumpers out there. It is right about most not having front breaks. I'm not sure why you feel you need a front break. I don't know, for a trick or something?
Anyway what I would look at if I wanted a front break is: Measure the spacing on your front hub, then talke that measurement and match it up with a disc hub on Phil Wood's wed Site, and run a Mech front disk break.
