General Cycling Discussion - How big is your riding "wardrobe"?

Notwithstanding the unseasonably warm weather we're having here (and I'm grateful for it), I'm stocking up on cold weather riding duds. At some point this summer, I finally dedicated one whole dresser drawer to bike clothes. This week, I got some new stuff and now the drawer is overflowing: some stuff has to go in the closet.

So, how big is your bike "wardrobe"?

I ride nekkid....under my clothes:D;)

I normally wear street clothes when I am riding. The only possible exception being on longer tours or dedicated road rides. I own 2 pair of cycle shorts (on wool and one baggy) and one pair of long tights and a couple of jerseys. I don't remember the last time I wore them though...

I guess my bike cloths would all fit in a dresser drawer IF I had an extra dresser drawer to put them in. (I live in a small house and only have one chest of drawers). I throw them all on a top shelf in my closet.

We have a 4 bedroom house and we use two of the bedrooms. I have one closet in one of our spare bedrooms for my cycling gear.
I prefer to hang everything up.

a 5 pack of "wife beaters" and a couple pairs of board shorts is all I got.

I chose "My stuff fits in a dresser drawer", but I'm starting to think that five pairs of baggy shorts in XL and XXL size might be a little too big to fit easily. Also, I don't currently own a dresser.

In total:
1 pair Trek baggy shorts
1 pair Nashbar baggy shorts (Thanks sis!)
2 pair Oakley Alloy 2.6 shorts
1 pair Oakley Ballistic 2.6 shorts

Some ankle height socks I bought from Old Navy, and a pair of casual Shimano shoes.

I have a handful of t-shirts that are sized generously enough to provide a decent fit on the bike, and a webbed nylon belt that I wear with the Alloy 2.6 shorts.

That is all of my cycling gear, not counting my helmet. The t-shirts really don't count, because I wear them at other times too.

At times, I'll throw a pair of Teva sandals in my panniers if I'm going to spend a great deal of time off the bike at my destination, and some Oakley sunglasses tend to come with me on many of my rides.

I'm definitely going to move out of the dresser group when I start buying winter and/or rain gear. Thankfully, winters here are mild.

I need a bigger dresser.

Since my bike is my car, it's pretty big. Some of you might not recognize some of my clothes as "bike-specific", though.

Well, as far as easily recognizable bike clothes, I have two pairs of shorts and two jerseys, one pair of tights, and a set of arm warmers. Oh, and bike shoes. I also have a running jacket that's bright yellow and works well as a cylicng jacket, some medium-tight synthetic pants I use in cold weather

I have a cold weather shell and polar fleeces that are not cycling specific.

I voted "dresser drawer." Note that I for rides 5-10 miles I do not wear cycling clothes, unless the weather is bad, in which case synthetic bike clothes win over coton jeans even more than usual.

So yeah, I voted "dresser drawer" I'd lik emore jerseys though, I just happen to be broke. I'm fine with a synthetic t-shirt during winter since it's underneath a few other layers usually, and thus the advantages of a bike jersey (pockets in back and skintight) are negated. In summer though, jerseys are great from a purely functional standpoint.

I chose the closet, but I don't actually keep my cycling clothes in my closet. I keep them on a shelving unit that is 4 shelves high and about 3 feet wide, and it is full. Then the jackets go on my jacket rack, and the clothes that are actively in use (I know, horrors, I wear the same stuff several days in a row before switching to something new) are either on the floor or on my drying rack, or both. So if you put them all together, they'd pretty much take up a closet.

Now I will add that some of my cycling-specific clothes are not what most people would consider cycling-specific ... like my polypro and wool tops.

But I'll also add that my wicking T-shirts and zip-off pants, which I wear when I tour, are in with the general population of clothes.

I have one pair of tatty bike shorts, one jersey, and a pair of fingerless gloves. That's all the cycle-specific clothes I have. I plan on getting some bib tights before winter sets in though.

I more frequently ride in street clothes, but the chamois shorts really help prevent chafing.The jersey doesn't do much a polyester T-shirt wouldn't do, but I think it makes me look cool. It does a pretty good job of covering up the holes in the waistband of the shorts too, come to think of it.

Hehe, I ride a recumbent trike so my wardrobe is any clothing I wish with no distance limitations, and since it became fully faired I can walk out of a heated room in winter and wear what I am already in.

Although I'd voted under the "dresser drawer" category, I need to revise my vote as all my cycling wardrobe items can collectively fits into a closet. It consists of the following items:

An orange mesh cyclist's vest with lime-green stripes on the front and back.

Numerous jerseys for warmer weather, three or four of which I use most of the time.

Two jerseys that I wear during colder weather.

Several sets of cycling shorts.

One pair of spandex pants for colder weather.

Two lime-green wind jackets

One pair of cycling shoes.

Three pairs of cycling gloves; one long-fingered pair for winter, a long-fingered pair for warmer weather, and a short-fingered pair during summer.

One set of lime-green bands to hold pant legs close or can be used as arm bands.
These have optional blinking lights inside the bands.

The helmet goes without saying.

I just have a couple of those Rubbermaid tubs full of cycling clothes.

I threw a bunch of stuff out though and I'm planning to buy some more soon.

I have a FULL closet of my biking and running clothes. But I live in Vermont so I need a lot of clothes for the different seasons. Rain,snow,ice,sun and temps. from -10*f to 90*f. It does get colder then -10 but that is as cold as I have ridden in. And that is not with the wind chill.

I ride year round for both recreation and transportation, so it's getting to be pretty good sized. Tip: I use a cloth shoe organizer that hangs on the closet door for all the small stuff like warmers, covers,hats, gloves, and even jerseys.

I pair of beat up Nike spandex (not even cycling shorts) and a few polyester shirts.

My stuff completely fills one full-width drawer and one half-width drawer of a 5' wide wardrobe, and there are still a large number of items scattered about elsewhere...e.g., all my gloves and glasses are in one of those over-the-door shoe holders (though oddly, my cycling shoes are not kept in that), and I've got a winter jacket and a cool weather wool jersey that are on hangers in the wardrobe.

Yeah, definitely too much kit! I wonder if I could trade some clothes for more bikes?

I have a cabinet in the bedroom just for my cycling clothing. Then there anther cabinet in the garage for the parts, helmets, and accessories. Finally, there is the toolbox for my bicycle tools, separate from the toolbox for autos and yet another toolbox for the house.

Mine would all fit in a dresser drawer if I had a spare one, and I just kept piling it up at the end of the bed as I started accumulating more clothes. About half of my stuff wasn't made for bicycling, but I ended up using some things just for bicycling to keep the stink factor down for the stuff I'd wear around my friends.
