I bought a pair of Sidi shoes second hand for my wife - they are size 43. Unfortunatly, they didn't fit her. But they are in very good condition. So I decided to throw them out on E-Bay.

I bought them for $6.00 and the current bid is $96.00.

My fear is that somehow I have misrepresented them or that people have the wrong idea.... How could I be making 1,600% profit on these things.

The condition of the shoes are as follows -
Uppers - almost perfect. Rear plastic is shinny as the day it was new. Buckles are in perfect condition except for some small marks where they have been worked in and out of the attchement point. But otherwise the uppers are mint.
The inside looks prestine. A little dirt on the tung, but no other signs of wear.
The soles have slight tread wear on the back cleat - and some scratches around the clip attachement area - but nothing out of the ordinary. They have a spot for some clip or bracket at the toe, but the bolts are a little scratched.

I can't find them anywhere to check what retain prices would be - I threw them out there for 30 bucks and they took off.

Worst case I guess is if the winner complains about the "Nearly New" condition, I will simply refund his money...

Here is the link to the shoes - please take a look and tell me what you think.

Thanks for the help.

Right now the bid is about half the price of a pair of new Sidi's. If it bothers your conscience, take the bid and sell them, if it's up to your deadline.

Nah.....don't feel guilty about it. I made more than 1,600% on shares of Ebay when they went public.....

Don't know what model they are, but a new pair of Genius 4s don't usually show up for less than about $160. If you really feel bad, just close the sale now and let the highest current bidder have them. You ought to get some really good feedback on that sale!

Hmm,

I have been shopping for Sidi shoes, and i'd love to get a pair of dominators in my size for what these look to be going for.

I wouldn't really care what you paid, and you got a KILLER deal on them BTW.

All is fair on e-bay as long as you are honest and don't fib, let the market set the price in good coscience.

take care,

Jester

They look like pretty good shoes, you paid 6 bucks for them?? Leave the auction alone, it is fine. Your trash is someones treasure.

I guess I just lucked into this one.
They're now at $108.50.

Now I see how people can make a living at going to garage sales. As long as you know what the real value is, it's hard to go wrong.

Once I ship them off, I'll let you know if there ends up being any problems.

Thanks for the advice.

Bidding ends in about 25 minutes -

Heck I'm just happy to have covered my cost - and I screwed up the listing and said I would pay for shipping - I'm not minding that much anymore either.

Thanks

Let's hope the high bidder is not a regular here at Bike Forums!

Thsi is how auctions work. Sometimes people just get carried away and bid to much.

A $100.00 bill is still worth a $100.00, whether you earn it or find it. If you feel that you have honestly represented your shoes, the marketplace (eBay) will tell you what they are worth. Regardless of what you paid.

Well when it was all said and done - a guy in Houston TX. Bought them for the sum of $122.50.

My wife was sketpical and easily turned them down saying they didn't fit... Now that she knows the value... she's wishing they had fit!

I'm sending them Fed Ex tomorrow - they'll arrive on Monday - I'll follow-up with you then.

And yes - I'm sleeping tonight - even with a 1,942% profit margin...

Good night.

Hey - anybody know if I have to pay taxes on this....??

George - I like math, but never understood financing... I'm curious... what "annualized return" and how do you get 100,984... I'm thinking if I play my cards right - I could retire in a couple of years and ride my bike full time???!!
