Electric Bikes - 36 volt currie?

is there a 36 volt 350 or 450 watt currie type motor around (has to fit on left side)that will go on my ezip trails?or am i better off removing the little 200 watt currie and trying a hub setup,yep i got that kmart cheapy too haaaaa.i have seen some 450 watt curries 24 volts but that will only give me a bit more tourqe correct?i need a bit more speed as well maybe another 5-10 klms atleast.

did you try adding a extra battery to that 24volt currie?
i have 2x 24 volt packs and it zings :)

I'm assuming because you got more performance out of the bike, that you wired the packs in series (double the voltage, 48V) rather than parallel (double the amps available, but same voltage as 1 pack).

Seems like a great idea provided your controller and motor are able to handle it safely.

Hello Mike. I have a question. How far will the kmart ezip go before it needs recharging? What's your top speed? Do you have a throttle control that works like a motorcycle? Must you pedal all the time to keep the motor acitvated? Is the bike good for say....a 4 mile round trip before it neeeds recharging?

As you know, by responding to one of my previous posts. That I'm looking to either convert my 7100, or buy a "Giant Suede e" Bike. Right now though, I'm not ruling anything out. I know the bike is heavy. According to the website...I think it said 86 pounds? Sound about right? I'm only 5'6 inches tall. In your opinion, would the bike be to big for me?

I have owned a "26 inch mongoose mountain bike from wal mart" The bike was a little big. I gave it away when I bought my trek. However, I've rode a roadmaster 26 inch from the same store and it fit me fine.

mine is very similar to the mongoose,about same size,not much difference between the two,i had a look at a guys down town the other day,i find my bike is just too slow and range is very bad on one 24 volt lead acid battery,you dont get no where the range or speed currie says you do,i go to the shop and back and mines dead flat,it has a throttle control and you can either choose to pedal activate it or it will just take off by throttle,good concept and bike from currie but lacks speed tourqe and range,the bikes are very well made,all steel nice design,front shocks.good brakes,its a pity they didnt do a 36 volt 450 watt version i think that would have made a real good bike.and the lead acid battery on a heavy steel bike was not a smart move.anyways i am looking at different ways to get more speed and will change over to 36 volt lithium setup,but biggest prob i got here is finding a 36 volt 450 watt motor,if i cant get one i guess ill just have to overvolt this one,all the 24 volt setups i have seen are very slow.legal limit here is 200 watts stuff that i can run faster lol.

motor and controller should be fine as long as you dont go up extreme hills. or go full out from a dead stop. my controller died but that was my falt i said water got in it but really i was playing around with the shunt and it fried :) and took off down my hallway lol.

the currie goes extremly fast overvolted.

ok thanks karma this currie is gunna go fast,think i will buy the 36 volt lithium pack and give it a good spin,motors for these are cheap so i not too worried about burning him out either lol
