Hi...I am trying to identify what model my 82-83 peugeot is.. and whether I should keep it original or switch out components depending on whether or not its high-end..

Sorry..my digi camera broke, so I don't have pics right now.

The frame is entirely red with white checkerboard & lion decals. Made in France, Carbolite 103.

Rigida wheels
Huvet front/rear derailleur
Peugeot brakes

I can't locate model number but a little paper on the bottom of frame seems to read 2850825 then P8 50. Another serial on frame is Y30432473. I haven't seen any styles like this bike in your posts or elsewhere on the internet. Single owner said they purchased the bike in 1984. Just wondering if I paid too much for this puppy... and if I should invest much more.

Sounds like a P8.

Yes, with Carbolite 103 frame tubing it is definitely the base model, successor to the venerable UO-8.
