FYI
The 5th annual Crest Crank Ride to End Domestic Violence
is a benefit for Alliance Against Domestic Abuse happening
September 7, 2003. It's a great event for a great cause.
The entry fee is a set of pledges (hit up your co-workers ;)
The minimum contribution is $50. The ride features a free
shuttle (can cost $20 to buy shuttle service) and there's
a party at the end with food, beer, and prizes.
This is a mountain bike ride, not a road ride. There are
multiple route options, the easiest of which includes
aproximately 11 miles of intermediate-difficulty singletrack,
14 miles downhill on a 4% grade on gravel road, then 6 miles
downhill on a 4-6% grade on pavement. More difficult options
can include over 30 miles of up-and-down singletrack, all
over 9000 ft elevation.
Salida is in Southern Colorado, two hours drive west from
Pueblo, roughly 3 hours Southwest from Denver. Also roughly
3 hours north from Santa Fe, NM.
