Sunday afternoon I had my best ride ever. Went 10.7 miles at an average speed of just under 7 mph. Sound impressive? Considering that Rainbabe was with me on just our second ever ride together, I was impressed and very proud. We packed a couple of sandwiches and drinks and rode over to the lake and along the bike path. Stopped in a little park and had a picnic. After a little while we rode back home. On the way back her backside started to express its dissatisfaction, but she kept right on cranking. I wouldn't have gone quite so far with her, but she insisted. She is quite fit, and I knew the exercise part would not be a problem, but I explained that seat conditioning takes a few days no matter how fit you are. Right now she rides our daughter's mountain bike. It is a pretty good fit, but I hope she gets interested so she will let me buy her a decent bike.
Regards,
Rainman

Good for you Rainman! So far this summer, I have fixed up two different bikes for my bride...an old road bike and a 10-speed comfort bike. She did not get along on the road bike at all, so I donated it to the LBS with the proviso that they give it to someone who is just getting started and needs a bike. We have been out twice, for a total distance of 6 miles! But, it is a start, I hope! Doing a picnic is a good idea, bet I use that one!

Never thought about that though, toolfreak, this could get expensive! Oh well, it would be worth it to have the occasional companion!

Congrats Ray!! I have been gently encouraging my wife's interest and who knows, maybe we will all do a "serial" ride togehter!! So far she has not expressed alot of interest but, some of that maybe somebody has to watch the three year old as we are not comfortable with putting her in a trailer.
