I get sad when it's seventy during the week, and soggy and cold every weekend. I'm dealing with it as bravely as I can. The Josie Johnson ride was the worst riding I've done in a long time. We had a couple nice sundays, as a reprieve, and I tried to make up for it. Today, as I was slowly churning around town, I started to wonder....

So what do you guys do? Do you bundle up? Do you hit the trainer? Do you hang out at the coffee shop? I know some of you commute every day, regardless of the weather, and I admire your willpower. I know some of us have big intentions, and end up snuggling with a book, instead. I'm just curious.

I know there are others that will turn their attention to snow sports. Myself, I can't get involved in yet another expensive passion, so snow boarding, and cross country skiing are out. But if that's you, I'd still like to hear about it.

What do you do when the leaves fall, and the days grow short?

Same boat here Al. I rode all of once last week and look forward to the weekends but since the weekends suck for riding, I've just been eating more. :)
I don't mind going out in the cold but the thought of cold plus moisture scares me.
I loathe the trainer but ended up setting it up for the season in my basement. I figure I better start using it rather than wait for the clear day or I am going to get really fat. :) I've decided to start jogging as well. We'll see how that goes.
This week through the weekend doesn't look too bad in the forecast.

I ride during the day if possible. As I am retired, that works great. If I can't -

This morning, in the snow and rain, I took a 3 mile "fast walk."

Although I have a permanent trainer in the basement, I hate the trainer. I just HAVE to get outside. So, no matter what the weather I am out walking, even in snow drifts, blizzards and whatever

Hey, what's wrong with snuggling with a book? *boggles*

If I don't get at least one to one and one-half hour of vigorous exercise daily, I can't sleep at night.

I camped out in the desert last weekend. Got in a nice mountain bike ride Friday, slogged around a little in the mud, rain, and sleet Saturday, stayed in the motor home and kept warm most of Saturday, came home Sunday after the snow melted. I hate Winter!
I have bikes with fenders, knobbies, and lights. I put on the cold weather gear and ride them! Don't have to go far to get plenty of exercise riding in 6" of snow, or trying to stay upright on ice and rutted, hard packed snow. Still beats the trainer, though!

I'm an all-weather rider :D

Last year, there was this 2 snowstorm that hit Colorado Springs. Thoese storms wasn't enough to keep me from enjoying my rides outdoor :D and I've noticed that there are more of interesting responses from pedesterian when they see me as bundled up in my several layers of coats and whatnot while trying to keep my bike upright at 20mph lol

I just can't wait till I get my road bike fixed cause I've just bought a BOB Ibex trailer (for $60 :D) and are preparing to go out on a several day touring trip for the first time despite the cold and the snow that may come up during the trip.

I got a job in town for once, so I'm able to commute by bike now. Yay! I drove in on monday to drop off my tools, but I've been riding in every day since. I feel like I should work slowly, to drag this job out as long as I can. The mornings have been a bit chilly, but at least it's dry.
