Hey folks. I need some help. I purchased a dB 4LW Wireless Cyclocomputer from Performance Bikes a couple of weeksa ago. I received last Sunday. I read the directions (what littel was there), I have changed both of the batteries, and have only gotten one reading. It showed I was traveling 74 mph for 6/10 of a mile. I have the monitor mounted on the handle bars, and the transmitter on the left fork. Any suggestions?

Make sure the magnet is properly aligned and spaced from the pickup properly?

It could be that you live in an area with a high enough level of RF interference to mess with wireless cycling computers. Kokomo, Indiana has huge areas where the CateEye Wireless doesn't work due to large amounts of RF interference from an unknown source.

Interesting. Tom may be right about the RF interference. My computer usually works great. When I ride in Cape Girardeau, MO, I pass between two hospitals and each time I ride here, my max speed is 74mph. I always thought maybe I was slipping my wheel, but then I realized it is on the front and that doesn't happen.

I have a buddy that I ride with and he and I were having this discussion last month. His does the same thing, registering 74mph on occasion.

My cyclocomputer is a Bell wireless which works fine after tweaking using this website:

Although mine's not a Schwinn brand, it helped me visualize how to locate the magnet. Also, the chart at the bottom showing wheel factor and tire width helped too. Mine's on the right side since that's the side where the chain and drivetrain is. Less likely to bump magnet out of alignment when I lay the bike down in the car for fieldtrips.

Boy do I feel like a clutz. I went out to look at the magnet -transmitter spacing, all looked good. So, removed all the batteries, and low and behold, the transmitter battery was in upside down. Put it all back together, realigned, and works fine. I should say it works fine insode of the starwell in the hospital I work in. I will fins out this evening if it works fine on the road.
