Road Cycling - Feedback on these brands

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have started looking again at new bikes. I like my current bike, but feel that it is time to move on since it is 13 years old.
I am on a budget but came across these three brands, all have 105 components and are aluminum.
The first one is a Schwinn, 2003 Fastback Comp $699
http://www.supergo.com/itemdisplay.asp?parentid=22269&secid=7559&subid=7&compflag=1&company=Schwinn
The second is a Motobecane, Grand Spirit $895.00 http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/grand_sprint.htm
And last is a Felt, F65 $995 http://www.feltracing.com/F65.html
If anyone has any comments on any of these, I would like to hear them. Also if you have any comments on SuperGo bike shops.
Thanks again,
Manny:confused:

Have you considered Bianchi, Specialized, Trek, Fuji or Giant? I believe all of these have bikes in the $700-$900 price range as well. I don't know much about Motos or Schwinns, but I hear decent things about the Felts. It seems that many people are looking at Giants as some of the "best bang for your buck" bikes, and I'm sure there is something in your range. Maybe give them a look.

Of the three you've mentioned, I like the FELT the best. The shop where I worked was a new dealer, and if I hadn't already bought my bike, I would've bought one.

Felt F65 is sold out for the year. The 2004 will be blue and called the F70. This is what my LBS told me.
There is an F65 on Ebay right now. 56cm with shoes and pedals.
I have a Comment on SuperGo...I've been buying most of my bike stuff from their Santa Monica store....Good prices and great selection of parts..They have given me excellent service and I have noticed they have a great following of customers who frequent their store. I was looking at the Felt bikes at Supergo and they look like a nice bike...almost bought a F-35R a few weeks ago...they gave me a great deal if I wanted it, but I decided to wait til next year. Best of luck to you!

I would avoid Schwinn at all costs. Since they started "pimping" the Schwinn name at Wal-Mart (and other discount stores), there is no longer any real dealer network. Should you ever need anything in the future, you'll be stuck dealing with Supergo, which, from my experience, is not a fun thing to do.
I just bought a Supergo Access frame(cracked my Trek). The frame is nice. Welds look better than the Trek and a lot of other frames I have seen. 7005 double butted, and 3.65lbs. Cost=$149. The service was great and the packing was perfect. Came with an extra hanger and a seat post. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Stay away from the Schwinn! They are not what they used to be. If the Felt fits you I would go with that any day over the other 2. The Felt is a nice bike.

I almost bought a Felt, last week. The dealer was out of F65's and didnt know when the new F60's would be in. I bought a Bianchi instead. The Lemond Alp d' Huez is in the same price range. It is a nice bike too, if you can get past the color. :D
