I recently replaced the derailleur pulleys on my roadie. I had some real nice quiet ones, but they were made of some kind of plastic compund and had started to "peel" after much use. I replaced them with alu pulleys from my mtb (same size) which should hold up better. Anyway, since I've done that, I've heard a steady slight ticking sound. At first, I thought the pulleys weren't lined up correctly with the cassette gears (like when you're slightly over or undershifted and the chain wants to jump). After close inspection, everything looks fine, but I still get the ticking when I pedal. Any ideas? I'm not a bike maintenance guru, so if I've left out vital info, let me know and I'll get back with it asap... As far as I can tell, my B screw is correct and my H & L screws are right on as well (though the ticking sounds happens through all the gears, not just low and high)...

Just had a thought... Could the pulleys from my mtb have slight wear and they're not meshing exactly with the chain (which is new (the pulleys have about 200 miles on them))? If this is the case, is it a big deal?

Actually, I think Barnett's just answered my question. It said that metal pulleys tend to make for a noisier drivetrain. Sounds like that's my issue :P I also see that I may need to check to see if I have the guide and tension pulleys switched :P...
