My brother put together a single speed, coaster brake bike made out of an old Raleigh Sports frame and fork(23 in.), and wheels he bought on-line somewhere. I was really surprised at how really great the bike rode, and the total simplicity of it. It really reminds me of the bikes people rode back around 1910.
I have it in my mind to build something similar for myself, but does anyone know where I can find decent wheels with alloy coaster hubs? I would settle for a wheel set with a steel rear hub, but I would like to use alloy rims.

i have 2 bikes with the CB-E110 model.....laced one of em myself......wasnt too difficult.....both ride great

Coaster brake hubs are steel, as aluminum isn't durable enough.

I think I remember seeing some czech coaster hub on here that is supposed to be the sheit. velospeed?

Those Czech Favorit hubs are copies of the old Sachs Torpedo. I've heard they're pretty good, but haven't encountered one in person. The Sachs hubs were pretty smooth brakes though, so if it's a good copy these should be just as good.

I used a piece of rubber tube under the brake-arm bracket. Gotta protecct that paint job!
