beauken...59 yrs, biking since I was a kid, seriously the last 5 yrs. I ride a Gios compact and do the bulk of my riding in the White Mtns of New Hampshire. Love the hills. I live at the base of the climb up rte 16 through Pinkham notch. Favorite rides locally are Pinkham notch, Crawford notch, Evans notch, and The Kank.

I often travel To Vermont and Maine for diversity.

I'm planning to bike Itlay next September, possibly the Dolomites so I need to switch to a compact

Welcome to the Forums...

I was up in your neck of the woods twice this year for the Mt. Washington practice ride and Race...

Finished the practice ride...You know about the race...

I climbed Hurricane Mtn. Rd the day after the practice ride (That was a b!tch of a climb)...

I would think if you can do the Notch's, the Dolomites would pose no more of a challenge. I have seen some of Botto's pictures of the Dolomites and they are breathtaking...

I am an hour from Ascutney and frequent that climb. Gotta love climbing!!!

Hello beauken, do you ever run into anyone riding a Schwinn? A Schwinn Paramount in particular? You could have met up with our very own Pastor Bob!

Welcome to BF!

Hey! Hurrricane is rough. I think if you climb that you can climb anything. Back to the Dolomites, I was under the impression that they are more difficult than the Whites, I guess I'll find out. K
