Hey all...just wanted to share a little project i'm working on....i have a surly steamroller that I have been running fixed for the last two years and want to make it a bit easier carrying a load (I'm using a CETMA rack)...

Anyway, I'm building a wheel with a nexus 3 speed for it and will run it like that for a few weeks.....if I like it, I'm planning to build a wheel with a Shimano Alfine hub with it (though that means I will have to spread the rear triangle quite a bit...120 to 130).

Anyone do anything similar?

Most of the civilized world? Except most of these utility cyclists probably skipped the fixed gear project detour and passed GO right from their first roll.
