i might do this...but i'll do the shorter version...cause F do i hate climbing...i like a little misery but 10'000ft...
you guys are seriously delusional...
I know Beanz, but from Chino Hills you can come up, what is it, River something which turns into Town and straight up to Foothill near the Claremont Colleges. Then west on Foothill. Don't know the route from Green River up through Chino Hills though, although I'm sure there is one because it is used as a return route for SGRT to Seal, south PCH to Huntinton, and back SART.

You talking about riding on the 71 to sumthin' into Towne? Riding isn't allowed on the 71 anymore now that it's a big FWY!

I think there are other options out around the flood control basin just based on having missed the transition from the 91 to the 71 on occassion, but I,ve never really researched a route through there.
Edit: OK; I dug out an old map. Actually, Euclid runs all the way from Baseline/16th down to the Prado recreation area where it looks like you might be able to take Pamona Rincon through the flood control basin to pick up a street on the S side of 91 and go west over to Green River. If not, Pine Ave. east to a N/S street, S to Chandler, E to Archibald, which turns into River Rd., and S into Carona, then W to Green River.

Well buttuh...I know there are ways to get around but that turns it into a century and a half!:D....This would be a good rt if they were heading up to Victorville.

Anyone familiar with restaurants close to the ride's start/end location (5701 East La Palma, Anaheim)?
I'm tempted to form a restaurant subcommittee, but that seems like a bit much. Suggestions for the post-ride meal, seriously?

There's a Carl's Jr. in the immediate parking lot. Across the street, there's a plaza with a California Fish Grill, a sushi place, a Subway (I think), fried chicken, and some other places. Across from that, there's an In-N-Out, among other things. A couple miles away, there's the Orange Mall.

Behind the In-N-Out on the corner of Lapalma and Imperial is a pretty decent Mexican joint. Pretty good food. Right next to Aaron Bros Artmart. SW corner of the intesection.
On the NW corner is or was a Knowlewood's. I believe it is still there!(across the street from In-N-Out.

Just an FYI to give Chuck Bramwell and Mike Burns credit for this routeslip. It is a standard OCW Saturday Century Route that they created and maintain.
Credit was given here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=122878) when Extort and I first did this route a couple of summers ago. Since then the route slip has gone through several hands, and their names have disappeared. Thanks to Chuck and his crew for making all of the OCW Sat Century route slips available.
I'm going to put this on the calendar and see if it stays there  I'd say my odds are about 30/70 right now, being that it's on a holiday weekend, and I'm using the jumbo size hall pass to go do Tour de Tucson the previous weekend.

+1. I definitely would have cited/thanked them had I known. Thanks for pointing that out, OC, and thanks to OCW for making their route slips available.
By the way, I'd propose that our "lunch stop" not be as on the route slip, but rather, be at the Baldy Lodge. It makes a natural regroup point, and everybody is generally happy with the food and service there. It might be a bit early, but it is after most of the climbing, and there's a LOT of generally downhill riding right after that.

The Mexican joint is sit and order wait staff. Chips and salsa while you wait type. Nice atmosphere, kind of dark. Very romantic for a bunch of cyclists in spandex!:D

I hope so. I'm picking it up and getting fit at 1:30 today :D I think it's going to be a pretty drastic change from what I'm used to. I think I'm losing around 50mm of head tube  It's going to be a race bike, I'll have to see how it feels, before I stick myself on it for something like this. But yeah, I probably will.

I looked at that on the Western Ride Calendar the other day as a possibility, but not commited. Should I do that? Definitely keep me posted on the Red Rock thing.

What's the plan if GMR is not re-opened by then? Main road to Baldy?
Still sorting out family plans for that weekend, but tentatively count me in for the shorter Happytime option.

I road with Chuck Bramwell today and told him about this ride and he wants to combine groups, the OCW Saturday Century group and the Bike Forums group for this ride. It should be a nice turnout. We plan to meet at 7:15 and roll at 7:30. Does that sound like a good time for everyone?
Chuck has a nice page (http://www.caltriplecrown.com/centuries/mountbaldy.htm) with the profiles of the climbs for this ride. The route slips are also there.
You can take the 'maybe' off my name:)

That sounds fine, although we were hoping to start a bit earlier.
Normally, a 7:30 start would be fine, but the difficulty/length of this ride combined with the early sunset gives us some concern.
We're thinking of meeting at 6:00am for a 6:30 roll out. I'd add that a 15-minute window between arrival and roll time is too short for this rag-tag group (myself included!).
Maybe we can meet up along the way someplace. I think there's a good chance the OCW group will catch us, no matter how early we leave. So, the rides may converge with no planning necessary. That said, do you want to propose a convenient regroup point?
Note that we are proposing lunch in Baldy village, separate from OCW's plans. I think we should just stick to our schedule and go at it. But I'm cool with whatever mateo decides.
