Could the mods contribute a one line description and a link to interesting threads (or posts) across BF on a periodic, perhaps weekly, basis?
Example:
Fatal collision in Portland, right turn laws, bike lanes, aerial photos and discussion (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=355851)
First century rides--stories, nice pic of Penny Farthing century (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=233725&page=3)
You might not agree these examples are interesting, but just to give an idea of how it would work. Perhaps once a week create a digest of maybe a dozen threads that are representative, important, well-written, whatever positive criteria.
I'm thinking this would be a way to show the diversity in BF to newcomers, and also get regulars to look at other subforums. Or, for anyone time-pressed to get a sampling of what's up.
Apologies if this has been suggested or done before.
