Utility Cycling - BOB yak trailer owners - please post your pics!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi Bobyakkers,
Would you mind posting detailed photos of your trailers? I'm especially interested in how it attaches to the bike and around the wheel area. Unortunately nobody stocks them around here, so I can't get a look at one in the flesh.
Thanks.

Hi Cyclaholic,
Here's what I found lurking on my computer.
Picture #1 is my bike and BOB in the parked position.
Picture #2 - BOB also makes a handy table. I put something under the front fork to level it out but otherwise it made a decent table. If you look to the bottom, right hand side of the pic, you'll see the U-shaped drop-out looking thingies. These sit onto the special quick-release and are held in place by pins. You can see a slightly higher-res picture over at (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/pic/?pic_id=73477
Picture #3 - side view. It attaches at the quick-release. The quick release has bobbins on the side that the BOB fork fits into. They're also non-symetrical so the QR can work with a range of spacings on the rear wheel.
I've seen some newer BOBs that have braze-ons on the rear. Very cool. The black pole you see sticking up has a yellow flag on top. When I bought mine for a local shop, it came with the trailer:D, the big yellow dry bag, the flag, the quick-release and the two pins (the prevent the trailer from detaching itself when going over bumps, etc.). Of course, YMMV. All the other gear is for my 2005 trip from Boise to Seattle (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?doc_id=1185). Also, a lot of people on the Crazyguyonabike Website (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com) have (& use) trailers so there's probably more pictures to be found there. No, I'm not the webmaster etc., I just spend a lot of time over there & they host my (& a few other thousand) journals.
Hope this helps,
Timsound

Thanks for the pics.
Now, would someone mind just running a tape measure over the cargo area and give me an idea of how long and how wide it is? I'd be eternally grateful.
Cheers,
Gab.

Mine is approximately 25" in length by 17" which tapers down to 15". The front bar is about 12" high. I also bought mine in 2003 so things might have changed since then. I also measured this from the bottom so it does not take into account the width of the bars (approx. 5/8" ea.). Hop over to http://www.bobtrailers.com/trailers/trailer_specs.php?product_id=10&type=dims for the info straight from the people who make it.
