Hi - I am a new rider. I just bought an 1970's Italian Racing Bike - but don't know much about it. It's a Romana Formula 300 made by EBM. According to the original owner, it was bought in the late 1970's and is in really good shape. It was one of the first bikes where you could easily change wheels during a race. Question is - I bike commute daily. If I use this as a beater bike, street park it, or ride it in the rain, would that make you cringe. Should this be a Sunday bike that I baby (like the last owner). I can't exactly ask the last owner without getting him upset. I've seen no info on this bike - so I don't know if it's just an inexpensive knock-off (like some 1970's french bikes that I've seen). I have a 2nd bike, which is an early 1990's Nashbar Tour bike, which I use as a commuter. I'm thinking that I should baby the Romana just because it has orginal 1970's Italian parts, not 1990's japanese parts like my nashbar, which are easier to find. If you have any suggestions, or know anything about this bike - that would be great. I somewhat clueless...
