What was I thinking.
A blue slushie.
Not only do I have blue lips now (I look soooooo professional right now - don't even match my purple outfit either) - but I got not one, but three brain freezes.
Oh yeah - look at the lady at that desk with one eye squint shut and blue lips.

Ice cream giving you a headache?
Research has found that at least 30 percent of people suffer from ice cream headaches.
Dr. Robert Smith is the founder of the Cincinnati Headache Center at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In an interview with The New York Times, Smith explained the ice cream headache this way: "The pain pathway in an ice cream headache is the spheno-palatine ganglion, a mass of nerves that stretches from the back of the palate into the head and controls the contraction and dilation of blood vessels. He said cold temperature touching on the rear of the palate caused a headache by stimulating the ganglion to make blood vessels in the head dilate."

My wife is one of those lucky people that don't get brain-freeze from eating/drinking cold things. She doesn't believe it really happens and accuses me of making it up when it happens to me.
Great.
Boss just walked by and doubled over laughing at me.
Called me a smurf.

I HATE brain freezes.
My g/f can down a slushie/shake/ice cream whatever it is in seconds and NEVER gets a brain freeze. How does she do that?

I know what the experts say, but I've eaten plenty of ice cream, and this has never, ever happened to me. I think people might be making this up. :p

What is this "brain freeze"? I hear people talk about it, but I've never experienced it.Go to the 7-11 on Trindle Rd and get a LARGE Slurpee. Start drinking it if fast as you can. You’ll see what a “Brain Freeze" is all about.

I occasionally get it. It's always been a one time thing right at the start of eating ice cream. After it passes, i'm good to go and can wolf down ice cream as fast as i want. :)

Darn slushie - never had multiples before.

Been there. Done that. No ill effects.Maybe the blood flow to your brain is restricted. :p

I think I'm the same way. After witnessing the behavior from wife, kids, others, I finally asked what the hell was wrong.

Might be the opposite. That, or I just swallow faster than it can take the heat away. Or maybe my sinuses are always so clogged and that acts as insulation.
I have a bunch of explanations.

I gave my dog brain freeze... I was feeding her ice cream & then she got this weird look on her face. Kind of a "stop doing that to me" look. Poor girl. She didn't want anymore ice cream that day. Now I just don't give her as much.

hehe, my little dog experienced that a couple of times. Awwwww she's lapping up her little midget scoop of icecream then she pauses and keeps licking, backs away and looks up at me with the officeal squinty eye ... Awwwww :)
I always get it really bad behind my right eye. Not left, not in the middle. When it happens I want to gauge my right eye out really badly.

the best answer to brain-freeze is to have a un-iced soda as well.
I do this with slushies as well.....sip the slushie a few times, take a few sips of the soda, rinse wash repeat.
My dog never gets brain freeze no matter how much ice cream he eats, how fast.
Explanation simple... The boy has no brain
