Bear with me on this post. I have a little build up. It might be worth the read. :)
I like tomatos. I like them fresh, in sauces, stewed and even dried. For my love of tomatoes I’ll plant around 24 to 30 plants of all different verities like; Beefsteak, Roma, Better Boy, Big Boy and Cherry. We also give a lot away to family, friends and neighbors. This year was a great harvest TON’s of tomatoes. Most of the regulars we give tomatoes would turn us away saying; they still had some.
The Cherry tomatoes didn’t do well last year so I decide to forgo those this year. This brings me to the anger part of the post. My better half still bought 2 Cherry tomato seedlings. Even thou I said I didn’t want them. The planting season was going to be real hectic with around 30 tomatoes to plant. I just wasn’t prepared to plant them. Yeah, I know what 2 extra plants and why should it matter.
So when I saw the Cherry tomatoes I went crazy with anger. I mean really angry. Why I got so angry I still haven’t figured it out. It seemed like for what ever reason it just released an anger storm in me. I couldn’t let it go for days. I felt so bad about it and for putting my loved one up with that.
After all the other tomatoes where planted, I ended up planting the Cherry tomatoes. They were so withered and dried out I knew they would die. You can still see the anger here right? I planted them in the most unlikely corner of the yard. I told her there; they’re planted, but you take care of them. She said ok. I snickered and waited for their demise. God bless my better half she only has brown thumbs. So, I thought!
Well the spring went on and tomatoes plants got bigger, started flowering and the fruit started to appear. I didn’t even notice the Cherry tomatoes for the most part. Then one day something caught my eye. My better half was watering those Cherry tomatoes and then I saw her tying them up, more watering, down on her hand and knees cultivating those darn Cherry tomatoes. She was really putting some care and love into raising these Cherry tomatoes.
Then some time went by. Look at the amount of Cherry tomatoes these plants are producing. Red, sweat and juicy fruit, they are delicious. What a mineral! Cherry tomato heaven, so many do we have and those plants are still producing great fruit. I couldn’t believe the anger that I had over those Cherry tomatoes and the then the joy they bring me now. So the moral of this is, at 45 years of age I still learn and humble myself not to get angry at things that could blossom into good fruit. :):D
