Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Show us your headlight[s] setup? Any Planet Bike fans?

I currently use [2] Planet Bike Super Spots mounted on my handlebars and [2] Sport Spot mounted below on a Topeak Bar Xtender. I bought a brand new 2007 Bianchi Bay City hybrid/fitness bike. I'm going to start using it for some light touring. I may have to reconfigure my lighting setup to clear a front rack with items on top. The mounting brackets hold up very well and don't loosen. I also like the fact that I can take the lights off and use as flashlights.

How do you have your U-lock connected to the bike, if you don't mind sharing the secret... ;)

Well, there's really no secret. I tried a few different locations before I settled for the one that is pictured. I had to consider my smaller frame and room for a Jandd frame pack that I would use on occassions. Before receiving my lock via U.S. mail, I was reading that a lot of people with the same lock weren't using the included mounting bracket. They said if seemed flimsy and just put their locks in panniers, rear trunks, etc. I've never had any problem with mine.

I feel I mounted it in the best location with the best clearance. When I'm riding my bike I don't notice it's there until I actually look down. Ride safe and have fun.

DIY Luxeon 1-watt LED in matching elliptical lens and holder. I used a 1-inch PVC pipe coupler to house it all.

Here is the dynamo that powers the LED headlight and Taillight with a little current leftover to recharge the batteries.

Bridge rectifier terminal strip consisting of 4 1N5818 diodes. The dynamo produces AC current and the LED's and batteries need DC current. The bridge rectifier does that job.

Front terminal strip with a resistor to regulate current for the 1-watt LED in the headlight, switch connection for turning LED's off and on, and cable running to the rear terminal strip. There is also a capacitor for use with the dynamo just in case the batteries fail so I can power the LED's directly from the dynamo.

Rear terminal strip with taillight resistor to regulate current to the 5000 MCD LED in the taillight and battery connection. I can also charge other batteries by connecting a charging cable to this terminal strip. I can power and recharge my GPS unit from this terminal strip during daylight hours with the LED's turned off and the dynamo engaged.
I never need to plug in my batteries to recharge them; I do that with the dynamo as I pedal along.

Planet Bike Alias HID

Wow, you guys have some cool lights. I'm gonna buy some Planet Bike Blazers or Beamer 5 headlights next. They're not the best, but they work for my application. If I wasn't surrounded by street lights, then I'd get the Planet Bike Alias HID. I like the design off the Planet Bike lights. They can be taken off with a quickness and be used as flashlights. And once they're on, they ain't coming off.

Pretty happy with my light setup on my commuter. I only have one Planet Bike light though (Superflash on the back of my helmet).

It must be a relief to be an electronics expert. I wouldn't know where to begin such a project!
