I hadn't come down with an honest to goodness case of the flu in probably 4-5 years. Was planning on getting a shot soon as my wife works with a lot of kids (music teacher) and didn't want to come down with anything she might bring home, or I pick up else where like the office.

Well, TOO LATE! :( Started feeling it coming on Monday night, left work at 11am on Tuesday, think I've had less than 5-6 hours of sleep since. No solid food due to sore throat since Tuesday afternoon. Apparently this early strain of flu is a strong one, so anyone who hasn't gotten their shot yet, might consider it. Unless they have vacation days to burn laying at home with chills, cold sweats, sore throat, head ache, general body ache and more.

Just kidding, hope you feel better soon. :)

I gave up the flu many years ago and already got my shot.

Enjoy your vacation. Some people will do anything to get out of work.

Oh yeah, hope you get to feeling better soon and don't worry, we'll dock your paycheck accordingly. ;)

Yeah, two weeks ago I had it but went to work anyway. I had to chair a meeting I called, then I figured I would go to my car and sleep it off.

They wound up calling 911 when I couldn't make it up the stairs to get to the restroom. Was out for the rest of the week. My son got it and was out for a day.

Wacky, co-workers!

I'm recovering from it, it hit me before the weekend, and kicked my butt sunday (almost passed out in the grocery store, went back home slept the rest of the day), monday I called in sick....worked the past few days feeling horrible.

Today isn't too bad though....overloading on vitamin C and having plenty of cough drops helps out greatly (except the part that for some reason Halls gives me ludicrous amounts of gas, but I'll deal)

the best thing though, take a capfull of nyquill every night and get AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep....don't try, make it so....no alcohol either (I found out beer will make me hurl last night....bummer)

And don't forget your fluids....I was sweating like mad up until yesterday.....cold sweats suck.

I won't get a flu shot. My house mate gets one every year and every year she gets sick after.

Knock wood, it's been about four years since the flu has taken me out.

+1 on that. I was dehydrated for four days after. I Had to drink water like crazy to catch up!

Trying to drink plenty of fluids, but not sure if I'm + / - from where I was before I came down with this. I do know I haven't eaten much of anything since Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday after I came home I had a medium Schlotzsky's sandwish. By the time evening rolled around I was having a hard time swallowing water let alone solid food due to my throat. Went to CareNow this morning and got a Cortizone shot which seems to be helping the inflamation allowing me to eat some noodles and broth. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to work tomorrow.

Sounds like your housemate should stop getting the flu shot. That could be what's causing her to get sick...the vaccine doesn't necessarily work for everyone.

That said after going through the hell of having the flu last year, I'm glad to have gotten my flu shot this morning.

The more times you get the flu, the better your resistance as you get older. Even though the viruses mutate and change, your body still remembers how to fight part of their attack modes, diminishing the effects of the virus. You could go a decade or more without flu if you're lucky. My mom has had it about every ten years, and she's 55 this year.

I think I got it two years ago, so I'll hopefully be all right this year, as it appears the same type (if not strain) is doing the tour this year.

Thank goodness I don't get the flu very often. Maybe every 6 years on average. When I do it's bad. I'll be really sick for 5 to 7 days and pretty much out of it for 2 weeks.

yeah, I puked on the bike ride home from work....once again I am glad for learning how to vomit while keeping balance....and how to not hit myself with it.

This blows all kinds of crazy.

No puking, on your guitar or otherwise. Looks like I'm going to be heading back to work in the morning as long as I can get a decent night's rest tonight. I can't really say how much I've slept in the last two nights. Granted I've been either on the couch or in bed most of the day(s) drifting in and out of sleep to catch up what I've been loosing at night.

i get a flu shot...i used to live with a diabetic. But even though i don't anymore,i figure why should i get the flu? I never get sick after...only once have i gotten a reaction. Then when everyone else is keeling over, i feel great.

I'm taking 2-3 airborns a day. I almost got a cold that's been going around, probably the flu. I felt it coming on at 1:30 am a few nights ago. I took an airborn and ran like hell. As of yet, I'm doin fine. I just gotta stay away from junk food, and keep taking airborns. Plus running. That sure keeps colds away.
