Absolutely not. It's beautiful. Be careful though. All the envious motorists will be distracted from the task of driving.

SB, Can I ride with you!?! How far do you commute? Are those the Alex rims? If they are, those are the ones I used on my '62 Continental.

PB you can ride with me anytime. My commute is only 7.2 miles. I got those rims from a guy on e-bay and don't remember the brand name but they are similiar to the Alex rims as I saw on your 62 and the freewheel I got from Sheldon Brown its a Shimano and I think its a hyperglide or something like that, its the precursor to the ones they have now. Man those Kool Stop are the bees knees for sure. I took the bike out this afternoon for about 8 miles and the brakes were squeeking with the old original pads even after I had taken some fine sandpaper to them last night to get the glaze off so I said the heck with this noise (literally) and stopped at the bike shop and picked these up and installed them then rode for about 2 more miles to try them out and I really like em. My wife just shook her head and giggled when I showed them to her. She's a peach

Where did you locate the NOS Dia-Compe centerpulls? I found two boxed sets, at the LBS - one caliper and lever each. Didn't know that they're still out there in any number.

They are the stock units that were on the bike since 1972 even the pull wires are the same. The levers are NOS from an e-bay seller they were absolutely perfect not a scratch on them. This bike had very few miles on it but was absolutely the filthiest thing I had ever seen but under all that dirt there was little or no rust. All I did was to soak all the metal parts I was going to reuse in Kerosene overnight and brush every nook and cranny. It took me 3 days of cleaning to get all the crud off just so I could dismantle the bike. I think it was worth it.

yeah if I can find my way through the fog :) It was weird today when I got to work at about 4:45 it was clear and cold but about an hour later the fog had rolled in and it didn't clear off till later in the day. Should be a repeat tomorrow. Unless it freezes then thats gonna be interesting. Oh well it will still be better than driving.

Strange, it was clear as a bell here on the East Hill. Later in the day we went down to the town of Rainier, and it was not foggy there, either (and it's ALWAYS foggy down there).

Auburn was foggy cause well its Auburn. The fog was pretty scattered I think.

WOW!!!! that thing is BEAUTIFUL! Now i really want to get out there and get my Varsity/Seirra done.
PS, Does anyone know of someone making Repo stickers for a Seirra? I realize it was a one year thing, and chances are slim, i will probably have to have them custom made, but its worth a try.

That Conti should be a nice commuter. At some point you may want to add a period-correct Pletscher mousetrap rack over the rear wheel. I certainly approve of the new brake pads, leather saddle, rims, crankset, and pedals. If you lose the pie plate spoke protector, you may have room for a 6-speed freewheel, or you can keep the pie plate and get an ultra-6.

I had left the pie plate off but then had an issue with the derailleur traveling too far and the chain got hung up in the spokes and even though I have that problem solved. until I change out the derailleur cause I don't like the looks of it I'm leaving the pie plate. I have a Pletsher rack on a parts bike and was thinking about using it but I like the Carradice bag I have so I don't know if I'm gonn put it on. Maybe my next project I'll use it.
