Well, I knew it had to happen to me at sometime. I finally endowed.....OUCH!!!!!

I have ridden this trail hundreds of times and I still have no clue what the H-E_double hockey sticks happened! I was going down this pretty hairy hill ( big roots, rocks, loose dirt) and I must have been too confident or too far up and forward on the bike. Next thing I remember was the bike stopped and I didn't. I went right over the bars. I flew about ten feet down the hill and hit a tree. My head hit something first and then my side hit the tree. It knocked the wind out of me and I couldn't breath. I was in so much pain and I was about 1-2miles into the trail and had another 4 to go. I couldn't stand up strait, and it hurt me to hold my arms up. So, instead of walking my bike out, I decided to ride the rest of the way out. It felt better when I was leaning forward.
There were plenty of rough up and downhills and logs to tackle on my way out, but I just took my time.

Here is the verdict. I waited to go to the doctor thinking I was just bruised up pretty bad. Well, I have 2 broken ribs, sprained elbow, and some cuts on my leg and arm.
I have wiped out before, but nothing like this. I just hope I can ride again soon.
By the way, my Kona followed me down and she is just fine....I LOVE THAT BIKE!!!
Just thought that I would share this with u all...keep on riding!!

Ribs repair with ease, frames don't ;)

Hope you're back riding soon.

Broken Ribs SUCK! Nothing you can do for them, and seems like they take FOREVER to heal. Plus, you'll feel them every cold front that comes through. Talk about arthritis.

The worst thing is when you have broken ribs and then catch a cold where you cough or sneeze a lot. Torture!

Ouch! Take it easy for a while, hey?

Broken ribs suck, but they repair pretty easily and quickly if you treat them well.

Thanks everyone for the good words. Broken ribs really hurt!!
I swear that every muscle is attached somehow to your ribs. I hope it doesn't keep me from riding for too long. But I will say this, I am definitely sticking with Kona bikes (Kahuna Deluxe). I thought for sure that it was messed up after the accident because the front wheel was locked up. The problem was that brake cable was seated incorrectly from the frames cable attachment and the cable wouldn't move. Fixed it in 2 seconds.
I still can't believe that I finished the trail with 2 broken ribs.....Huuuaaah!!!! (Army lingo...:D )
