I want to upgrade my brakes. I was offered the Magura Hs-33 rim brakes & can't decide if it good enough for XC riding (7005 Al hardtail with stiff fork, Mavic Cross Ride wheels)for a $180?
Thanks in advance.

What brakes are you currently using? This may help us decide if you should upgrade or not.

It's been awhile but I think that's what came on my Porsche FS mountain bike. They were great. Until you've ridden with well set up Magura rim brakes you can't know what the word "modulation" really means. Whatever you input at the brake lever is exactly what was happening at the caliper.

If you'd like a pair of carbon fiber brake stiffeners to go with them, think about what bike stuff you have that you think would make a fair trade and PM me.
