Folding Bikes - Wisdom for lacing 36H hub to 28H rim?

I acquired a 36H Torpedo Duomatic NOS hub and have some 28H rims. Is there an easy way of lacing these together? I was thinking of leaving 8H clear in opposing pair in the hub, spaced 90deg around the flange, but spoke length seems a challenge.

Any wisdom that you might offer?

I thought about having something similar done. It is not a job for anyone but an experienced wheel builder with a spoke cutting machine. Even then, it will be difficult convincing someone to help.

Interesting conundrum! Just the sort of thing to solve of a Saturday afternoon...

It's difficult because the 36 doesn't divide down very elegantly on each side of the hub (mmm 9s!).

Attached is my solution; Spokes would *not* be all of equal lengths as I'm sure you can tell. There's some crows-foot going on on two opposing sides; the pattern is three-spokes—skip-one—four-spokes—skip-one—three-spokes—skip-one—4-spokes—skip one; left side is same pattern rotated 90°.
