I have a Cateye Mity3. Today it quit. It will not detect speed or distance or anything except the clock works. Does anyone know what it could be?

If the clock works, the battery must be good. Check to insure that the body of the unit is snapped into the base well, and getting good contact. If it is, check to insure that the sensor is close enough to the magnet.

Good luck!!

I have found that the contacts where the computer slides into the mounting bracket get corroded with time, especially if you ride in wet conditions. I’ve used everything from electrical contact/tuner cleaner to sandpaper to try and clean them. That works for awhile, but eventually they just get too bad and you have the opportunity to upgrade your equipment.

A second on the corroded contacts. After you get them clean you can an anti-corrosion paste on them. You can get it at hardware and electronics supply stores. If all else fails Nashbar has the mity-3 on sale for under $14.00

Yeah. I had one that got all corroded from riding in the rain too much. I got a cheap replacement from Nashbar.

This is exactly what happened to my Cateye Astrale. I tried sandpaper and it helped for a while, but I finally threw in the towel and upgraded to a Vetta RT77.

You might also use a multi-meter to check for breaks in the wiring harness.

My troubles with a Sigma BC800 wireless comp came down to a weak battery. The clock worked, the buttons worked, but it would not register anything. I would try a fresh battery first.

Then go and see if your LBS has Cateyes on display, with batteries. You could check whether one of those register anything when mounted on your bike. If they have bikes with Cateye wiring, you could try your comp there to see if it registers anything. That should help narrowing down the search.
