So I was descending San Joaquin hill today making a right turn on to SpyGlass Hill. I guess my front wheel slipped or something. I went down, and somehow managed to go over the handlebars. So my new Force brifters are scratched up now. It was bound happen eventually, I just wish it would have waited. Anyway I got away with only minor road rash, and scrapped knee. Strangely most of it is on my left side. Not sure how I managed that considering I was making a right turn. Biggest scare was my left wrist was hurting a bit. Considering I just got out of the cast a month ago I was afraid it was re-fractured. Seems better now, I guess I am one lucky SOB.

Couple, man and a woman, of motorists stopped, and asked if I was ok. A woman seemed very freaked out about the whole thing, kept asking me if I was ok and if I needed a ride home. Ended up giving me bunch of bandages. Very nice gesture. Good karma points for her. :D I don't think I was completely in a straight state of mind because I believe I managed to say "It was worse then it looked." instead of "It looked worse then it was."

No real point to this thread. Just my way of saying "If you use your bike it is bound to be scratched up, just adds character!" :p

P.S. Is it just me or Betadine became waaay more expensive. I think I remember buying a big bottle for like 5-7 bucks. Stopped by CVS and they had a small one for 17 bucks, and generic CVS brand for 10.

Glad it wasn't serious. I've been taking that corner at least twice a week for a couple of years, and still don't have it mastered. It a popular corner for going down, welcome to the club ::p I hope it didn't affect your wrist. When are you coming out for Coffee Crew again?

Sorry to hear, UD, but good thing it was just a few scratches and a little road rash for you!

Glad the brifters are only scratched. Could have been much worse!:p

I agree with your proposition that it's good to get scratches out of the way. I scratched my new co-motion IN THE BIKE SHOP THE DAY I PICKED IT UP. I was mad at myself at first, but then . . . Oh why kid myself. I'm still mad.

Not for a while. :( I don't get home untill 11-12 am, so waking up at 5:30 to do a ride is just not in the cards.

Don't go getting another arm cast now ... for some reason, that's the only way I'll remember you ... :p

Ditto, as we've only met at the Memorial Day ride! I have this picture in my mind of you that way! (you mean you don't wear a cast all of the time?)

Will see...
Anyway what is wrong with that turn? Doesn't look that bad until you start taking it, then it's really easy to find yourself over you heard. I took it multiple time at what I thought was reasonable speed only to realize I was going a bit to fast for comfort.
