They now have a whole section dedicated to their track wheels, including a few new models.
The new rim I think is Zipp's pre-dimpled "808" 85mm deep rim, it comes in two different flavors, the Sprint and the Endurance. The Endurance uses Sapim CX-Ray spokes instead of Sapim Race, has 10 less spokes up front, and is 105g lighter at 1791g for the set. The Sprint is 1896g.
The other new model is the Sprint and Endurance 50. I think they lost contract with Zipp on the rims and went with Gigantex (also known as Token, they use 50mm deep rims. The Zipps are/were 58mm deep), the Enduro's are lighter again at 106g and has 18 spokes up front compared to 24 on the Sprint. 1511g Endruo, 1616g Sprint.

Both the 50's and 85's use double-fixed hubs, which are now anodized in red, blue and silver.

Endurance 85- $1500
Sprint 85- $1400
Endurance 50- $1300
Sprint 50- $1250

Just pointing the news out. Those Endurance 85's are mine.

No such thing as a Zipp 85 mm rim. Those are also sourced from Asia.

I was actually poking around the cane creek website earlier today and noticed those wheels myself. Wish I could afford them...

There's a company out of New Zealand that sells a set of a 50 mm front and 90 mm rear wheel with switchable hubs for road or track use - $1175. What's the world coming to? That's the proverbial too good to be true deal.

Yeah, I just checked and they use an 82mm. I'm really hoping that my bike shop's distributor will still carry CC wheels in 2008 because I'm getting these.

@ Dubayoo, was it XTreme that's doing that?

Tell me about it! I want the silver hubs, but all of them look nice and kind of funky.
One thing I noticed is that they don't have the Cane Creek colored decals for the new wheels. That's one of the things I liked about them, you could change the color of the decals to match your bike.

A $1400 aero wheelset with round spokes is absurd. I really wish they would have made a radial 20+ cx-ray spoked sprinter rather that a 2x round one. I wonder how stiff the endurance 85 is with it's relatively high flange and 85mm rim.

also it's only a 6 spoke difference.

I'm not really a fan of obvious weaves but these wheels are hot.

Well, I think the name speaks for itself, the sprint is for hi-G Force racing in shorter length races, where strength is more important, and the Endurance is more aero for the Pursuits and such. Still, you drop 106g and get a more aero wheel with the best quality spokes available for $100 extra.

Plus, nobody really buys these for retail, do they? Most people have teams where they get at least some discounts.

yeah that's kinda my point. $100 differnce in MSRP is nothing so the sprint shouldn't be a significantly lesser wheel. Since they're already making a special hub for it why not change it a little bit more so it's radial(and therefore both stiffer and more aero) and why not put a few extra bucks into the the type of spokes people expect in wheel of that price. This isn't a case where stiffness and aerodynamics are mutually exclusive.

It might be. Compare the weight limit American Classic puts on their 58s with double butted spokes (225 lbs) versus the same wheel with CX-Ray spokes (200 lbs). When you're using that many spokes on a rim that deep I doubt the difference between oval and round is significant and worth the strength trade off. I'll take the Sprint 85 just as it is....preferably with white logos though. That blue will look garish on anything than a white, black frame.

According to sapim the cx-rays are much much stronger than the races. Importantly for stiffness this includes the strength of the middle section as well as actual durability. The weight recommendations for the american classics must be based on something other that just the spokes then.

The Carbon 58s are 110g lighter with the CX-Rays. Other than that its the exact same wheel.

Those aren't sapim round spokes though. The sapim races used on the sprint wheels are both flexier and weaker than the cx-rays on the endurances.

As far as the ACs go: Not that the difference is less on the 38s where it likely should be more(longer spokes) and just barely more on the "tracks" instead of drastically more(longer spokes 50% more spokes). Maybe they are really heavy round spokes, Maybe the weights are a lie, Maybe the threads are cut rather then rolled so it fits through a smaller hole in the hub which has to be drilled out for the cx-rays, Maybe their are other differences that aren't listed, Maybe the rider limit is just to make them appeal to dumbasses more, Maybe the rider weight isn't actually based on any stiffness or durability issues.

The hubs used for the sprinter wheels can not be laced radialy, due to their design.

I'm really glad they introduced a double-fixed flip-flop hub.

i normally wouldn't post this sort of thing on this forum... but, i have a brand new set of the Cane Creek Volos Track Tubular Wheelset.... I took them off of my pista concept (which I street ride in miami & tubulars are a waste on our glass-filled streets). I'm just trying to get a couple hundred bucks for them. PM me if you're interested... but, this is what i know about them:

Ebay them. They will definitely go. I've seen 3 sets in the last 2 weeks. I bought one. ;)

28 spoke free/fixed ? How much ...are these being sold independently of the wheels?
both the Track V-33 and the Track V spec a 28 fixed/free flip flop...mmm i want

I don't think they are being sold independently, but keep in mind that the hubs can only be laced 3x (not that that should be a problem, just something to be aware of).

Here's something to keep in mind. CX-Rays are made from a Laser spoke which is a 14/17/14 that is then flattened. The Race spokes are 14/15/14 and 2g's heavier per spoke. For a given weight (Laser vs CX-Ray) then the Cx-Ray may be a bit stronger in comparison. The CX-Rays are increadibly strong for their weight but hit them from the side really hard and they snap vs. a round spoke that bends a bit more. This was noticeable on my mtn wheels when hitting rocks. Now I imagine you will say there are no boulders on the track and you are right. Look at Burnaby though...there were quite a few crashes this week with carbon discs, tri spokes, etc being trashed in all the crashes. Maybe more spokes and strenght are a good thing when looking for true "real world" race wheels. I know the Sprint 85's have been on the 6-Day circuit this winter and Chad Hartley was using some at Helleyer for the 100k race last month. The word from abroad is they hold up well, track well in the wind, and the bearings are great! Aero wise...not a huge difference(if any) between a 2-cross and radial...mainly lateral stiffness.

Sorry to ramble...I love my Sprint 85's and have an Endurance 50 on the front for Pursuits on windy days.

Keep in mind that Zipp 808's are $2200 a pair...

That was at Encino. Chad took second place and won enough money to more than pay for those wheels.
