Road Bike Racing - training for hilly terrain but thewre are no hills???

i need some help. im trying to train for sum races this summer. but right now i am at college in ohio. and extremely flat part of ohio! bak hoiome where the races im entering will be everything is hilly. is there any way to train for hills where there seem to be none? thanx

well sorta, if you can't find any hills you can practice resistance training on a trainer, or go out on a windy day and ride into the wind. other than that I'd just try to prepare for what you can on the flats... i.e. intervals and LT training :rolleyes:
Riding in high gears also helps.
Try finding some parking garages where there are several flights of incline for the cars to enter (get permission first), and go to the garage on the off times when they don't see a lot of people. You could practice going up and down the ramp and use that day as a hill training day.
Also good for working on descending hills quickly. Just be careful when you do this- don't want you to fly off the ramp and kill yourself! :eek:

Use your mag trainer while watching videos of TDF mountain stages.

well see..if i hada mag trainer i would definatly use it but im a bit strapped fer cash at present but ill keep it in mind if i come into sum $$$
Spinning classes and exercycles at gyms. Crank up the resistance.

Best advice is to ride into the wind in a hard gear. Might not seem like a hill or tough at first but you will feel the difference then hopefully ride home with a tail wind ;)
