My wife completed her first ever Metric century today. She has faithfully followed the training program that I set up for her the last 10 weeks. We had ridden some 60+ milers in training so she knew she would finish. But we pushed it pretty hard today and she finished much more quickly than she expected: 4hr5min for 64 mile course. I am proud of her accomplishment. Thanks for listening.

Well done.
Not much more I can add but that first metric is always something special so hopefully she did not cook dinner that night.
Hey Lighthorse....
Does the "Florida to Oregon in 2007" mean that's how far you're riding this year, or you are moving to Oregon?
If you are moving to Oregon, what part (see my "location" info).
P.S.: Congrats to your wife on her ride...were you riding also, or doing support in a car?

Skiph,
The Florida to Oregon was my cross-country ride for this year. Started at my home in Melbourne, Fl. and rode to Eugene, Or. We aren't moving.
I am encouraging my wife to join me on a cross-country ride and the metric century is an important waypoint in long distance riding.
Lighthorse:
That's quite a 'ride'...quite a few 'metric centuries' in there!
She's got a lot of riding to do to catch up, but I suppose Florida is a good place to start since it's pretty flat.
She can work up to some hills after she gets some miles on.
Did you post any reports of your ride here on the 50+ forum?
As they say....Pictures...
Wonderful!! Could it be considered a birthday ride for her as well by chance (ride at least your age)??

skiph,
I did not post any account of my ride here in this forum. Mostly I hang out in the Touring forum. You can find my tour stuff here:

jppe,
The wife rode in excess of her age. She will qualify for this forum next month.
