Road Cycling - What's your favorite wheel set?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Been window shopping wheels and came across the Velomax Ascent. Wow! They make some sweet looking light weight wheel sets. Seriously want some of these babies! (Just cuz I'm a chi-chi collectin' weight weeny ;) )
I'd like to know what you folks have had the pleasure of owning (or test rode) and what your favorite wheels are.
My favourite wheelset is the one I made myself. My second favourite wheel is the one Peter White made custom for me. I don't look at boutique wheels-if they are affordable, then you have to re-tension all the spokes, and they break in about 2 years. If they are decent, you pay $200 more than a comparable custom built set (or about $400 more than a home-built set). I never ride a wheel with fewer than 32 spokes.

Mavic Open Pros. 32 butted spokes. Ultegra hubs.
Light, quick, strong, dependable. User serviceable.
There are lighter, more aero. Maybe someday I'll get some.
For a bomb-proof, all purpose commuting wheel, the now-defunct MA-2s/36 spoke rims were hard to beat. Perfect for mounting any size road tire up to 700x35, I understand the MA-3s carry on that tradition.
My newest are Open Pros on Chorus 32 spoke hubs. LBS did a superb job and they're a great ride.
On my retro ride I've got Campy Moskva 80 rims on S Record hubs with a DuraAce freewheel. Truth is those oldies are as smooth as any I've ridden and quite a bit quieter. Not retrogrouching here, just the truth.

For bomb proof in my opinion the Mavic MA40's are tough to beat, I have a pair with Dura-Ace hubs.

Yeah, but...weren't MA-40s just anodized MA-2s?;) (I don't recall with any certainty, and Mavic doesn't list them on their web site, so apparently they also are no longer made.)

You could very well be right. All I know is they will stay true like no other wheelset I've ever had.
