Ditto......... I'm in.......
Is that the one in Ocatillo? Just curious, why were you miserable? I was thinking about possibly, maybe, kinda considering it.
Cause it was FREEZING and I was underdressed, but most everyone was. ;)

Last year was cold and miserable ...
Too far to drive for a third year in a row for me. It can take up to 7 hours to get down there. But I do like the route and I don't know that it will be that cold in 2008. In 2005 it was quite warm actually.
Global warming, it'll be better this year.

It's not that it's too far, it's that it's south of Orange County. ME's psychic told her never to drive that far south ever again.
From where I am it seems like the middle of nowhere LOL
I did it last year with a friend who suffered hypothermia and had to be evacuated back to Ocotillo. I hope to be able to do a century ride again in January but definitely it will not be this one. Too far, too cold.

I am thinking about it. The dilemma is that you have to register by 11/17 for the cost to be reasonable, but there is obviously no way to predict the weather two months ahead. I would not want to do it again if it's anywhere close to as cold as last year.
Ooo, TTT division. There's an interesting thought.
I'll most likely do this ride since I've purchased a few winter clothing since then. :)

 My psychic does not guide me on such things. She only guides me in matters of love, and I can tell you, I ought to fire that ***** and spend my money on bar tabs, cause so far, she's been woefully incorrect. :p
Negative...done it the last 2 years...1st was wind for 40 miles then the cold last year.....
I love this ride...but dont think I want to do it in Jan....
However...I am planning on doing the new April one!! Maybe better weather and wildflowers!!!
I am passing on the January event but will probably do the April Stagecoach Century. Hopefully it will not be too cold or too hot.
too far and too "out and backey" for this kid.....

I happen to like the out and backey....I get to ride down those nasty passes I had to climb!!
But it is definitely a schlep to get there!
yeah the couse could use some help... the little extra loop at the turnaround to make it a full century is especially lame

I believe they have fixed that loop issue....
"After you cross Hwy 78 at the north end of the course you will have a gradual 5 mile climb up about 600 feet to the turn-around point at mile 50.0."
This makes it sound like they extended the route so no more loop required!
As much as everyone talked so highly about it last year:rolleyes:, I'm afraid I have to take a pass.
Going back out into the wind for the second loop two years ago was just plain miserable.
The only good thing I got out of this year was the ability to know what REALLY being cold for a long period of time is. Whenever I now think I'm getting cold I just think back to that ride.

ME, that's psychic, not psycho ...
I used to ride in the winter in Canada and I still think last years Stagecoach was the coldest ride I have ever participated in. I guess maybe my blood has thinned over the years ;)
I just registered. This is what happens when I can't ride and get bored. Why?
1. It couldn't possibly be that cold again.
2. I like this year's jersey.
3. The course is supposedly better (no midpoint loops).
4. It couldn't possibly be that cold again.
BTW, today is the last day for "early bird" rates on registration.
I have also signed up for this ride--wanted the super-saver rate. :D

South of OC...... might as well be Tijuana.
Just registered as well.
Remember the coupon code "Stagecoach" to get an extra $5 off; that covers the active.com fee. Got it from the Stagecoach email.
You guys are suckers for punishment. No way would I consider this ride again. It's scarred me! :p

Oh man!

Well this time you can roll over your registration to the Spring Stagecoach as late as 7 days before the event. If the long range weather forecast looks as bleak as it did last year, I'll have an out.

I started to purchase winter cycling gear only because of last year's stagecoach. I need to make the purchases worth it somehow!

Yeah..we are doing april...I dont want to freeze my butt off again...
Yeah..we are doing april...I dont want to freeze my butt off again...The winds will probably be so fierce that the cold won't bother us.
Last time I got 4 separate cramps in different muscles before the 1st rest stop; and fell to the ground 4 times while climbing up "the wall" due to lack of momentum. Hopefully, I'll do better this time. :D

That was the other reason to do the april ride...
Last year it was 28 degrees when I got back to me car a little after dark.

I'll be there! :D
I'll be there! :D
And that makes it all the more inticing as I've yet to ride with you!! I'm thinking I might be crazy enough to do it again...I don't know why.

Not that I'm comparing myself to Tiff or anything. I wish she'd be there too! :)
